72 Dash Vent Ball Replacement

Anyone have any hints on the best way to get the drivers side dash out JUST enough to replace the vent ball? I have the screws all out (that I know of) but I can only get it to pull out a couple of inches... The passenger side was a breeze to remove.

This is for a 72 Coupe

Taylor, Don't tell anybody that I told you this, but you can just pull the ball out from the front and push the new one in with out removing the dash. However, if you need to change the felt, this will not work very well for that................Good luck Steve
