Hey guys,
This car is going to be for my wife.
She has a fallen for the ontario orange with a black interior first one she saw was a 72 and I have been looking!

well I found one
1972 CHEVROLET CORVETTE - LT1 Stingray, 4 spd, t-top, power steering, power brakes, power windows, tilt/tele, PO2s, tank sticker, 76K miles, new ZZ3 345hp, many new parts, #s matching motor DNR, and parts go with car, Ontario orange/black vinyl, $13, 900.

Im still waiting to hear back from this guy but he is asking 13.9K for this car. He is in arizona..

I would have to have someone really look at the car and Im not sure if the original engine is salvagable but I think its worth a shot
what do you think I should offer him?
I am in north carolina and would have to have the car shipped to me..

thanks

johnny

You've got to get the car inspected before fixing a price.

It sounds like a really nice, well optioned car but there could be some hiccups that need serious attention (bad frame rust or damage, for one).

You also do want to find out why the original motor isn't running. If it's serious block damage then you might as well not pay to ship the iron and the car's eventual restored value goes way down.

Find somebody in the area who knows corvettes to inspect the car carefully for you. The local NCRS chapter should be able to help.

Where in AZ is the car? I m in Tucson, and while not a vette expert, can check out some basics and #s for verification. $13.9 sounds a little high for a NOM. If the original block is good, the price is fair IMHO. With $14.5 as average and a more desireable model with options, the value has to be based on overall condition and whether the car will be rebuilt NCRS or left as is.

Thanks guys!

I am a member of NCRS but beyond the basics I just wondered about the LT1 option.

Ill Most defenetly get someone to look at it!

Robert The car is in Mesa number is 480-357-6832
I have called a couple of times but due to the time difference I always miss them.
If you want to take a peak at it let me know it doesnt have to pass full top flight status but I would like it to be all there and no more than surface rust, paint should be in good condtion and the interior is black so pieces wont be to hard to come by.

My ultimate plan would be to fix the LT1 reinstall it and do any work that needs to be donw to make it perfect..so I can take it to NCRS someday if its a surviver that is even better!

I have been looking for a ontario orange and that 13.9 is pretty good from what I have seen people asking.

and its in my wifes price range.

I will offer less and see if he bites I know he has had it advertised for some time..
and I might be able to get the block back home for next to nothing
I am In the marines and I will be comming to Yuma AZ in september I could rent a van or truck go pic it up and throw it on my airplane for the ride back home! as long as that block is good I think it would be a great car!

thanks guys

I agree. If you're getting a basically good, stock LT-1 for 13K or so then you're doing great. Especially a high-options car like this one.

If the old motor's not completely gone and if the rest of the car isn't bad then it is a good deal, IMO.

I wouldn't sell mine for twice that. . . :Steer

My ultimate plan will be to make it NRCS ready one day,
It just depends on its overall condition right now.

The LT1 would be totaly gone through, some people remove engines for a bad head gasket so heres to hopeing!

I can also turn around and sell the replacment engine when the original is all done....

I hope the owner gets back to me sometime Id like to pick this car up but they are being dificult no answer at the phone no returned calls...

phrogs,

I live in Tempe, right next to Mesa. I will try to give the guy a call and swing by to take a look at it for you today or tomorrow.....corvete hunting is always a lot of fun!!

Billy

Billy, let me know if you need specs and details for any verification. I can always swing on up if the timing is right.

Phrogs, even with a NOM, the car is still a Top Flight candidate as you know.

billy that would be great!

do yo have a digital camera? i would love pictures of it.
wmail is phrogaircrew@yahoo.com

And yes Robert it certainly can make top flight without the corect stamping If I remeber right its 50 points. I can make that up with the driving bonus!

I apreciate the help guys!

johnny!

phrogs,

I finally got in touch with someone and they said the car had been sold a few days ago....sorry, but let me know if you need anything else checked out in the Phoenix area.

Billy

Thanks Billy
It would have been nice if they had called me
the search continues!
