'73 Headers?

Is there any comapny that makes off the shelf headers? I'm worried that regular Hooker headers won't clear the steering box on the driver's side.

Take a look at this thread for others that have had problems. I had to dimple my headers on a 68 big block racer.

mine were installed when i got it...

i have the receipt for aluminum coated headers installed...from johns corvette shop in dearborn michigan....they look like they have clearance for the box....just dont say on the slip what brand they are that i can remember....when i get home i will take a look and see , lately my mind seems to be slipping! i can post a pic of the area of concern if you would like also...and i have flowmasters on the ends...real nice sound. let me know if you need any of this stuff, gladly help ya out.

I have a set of Heddman's on my 63 small block that feed into factory sidepipes that fit great. No clearance problems anywhere.

I just installed a set of Dynomax ceramic coated on my 73 smallblock. The fit was very good, no clearance problems.

LOL.. this was my thread! Still not resolved either. If you go with regular headers, you should not have a clearance prob with the steering box. I went with sidemount (for side pipes), which caused the issues (however I did not have a steering box hit either). Best bet is to have someone do the install for you, unless you are very comfortable doing some minor fabrication on your headers.

The Hedmans (#68300)'bolt right in' - no modifications required. A little work - but worth it.
