Here's a brain teaser.............I've had the center console, center dash, and right side dash out of the car to change the heater core. I also loosened the drivers dash and the steering post to lower it to get out the air cond duct.

After it's all back together when I turn on the lights, I have no tach side dash lights (speedo side is fine) but the right hand turn signal light is on continually. The right signals are not on, just the dash indicator. The signals work normally and the dash indicator flashes normally also. I must have knocked something loose trying to get the duct behind the instrument panel when I reinstalled it, I dropped it down last night but couldn't readily see anything with a mirror.

I was thinking this morning maybe there's a ground I knocked off or something??? Anyone have any thoughts???

Bill

Bill75, Not sure what could have happened, but all those lights are individual lights. I changed them last winter. Each one is a small bulb including the turn light. They are different types, but if you didn't change them out, I can't think of what could have happened. The tach light could just be that it burnt out when you moved it, but why the turn signal light is on all the time... sorry just don't know.

Yeah it's sure puzzling isn't it!! I was really pi$$#d after getting it all back together and adjusted. I thought I'd try attaching a chassis ground to the housing tonight and see what happens, maybe I'm missing half the circuit if I knocked it off. Thanx for the reply

Yeah, not a bad idea. The grounds are always suspect. Good luck.

Bill, check to make sure you put the ground spade connector back on the tach side. There is one for the speedo side and one for the tach side. All the bulbs in the tach use the same ground and will do some pretty screwy things if that ground is left off.

Cheers

Ok...I bet that's it! I must have knocked one of them off trying to get the duct back behind the tach. Thanks, I'll let you know what I find.

That was it, as soon as I connected the tach side to ground things went back to normal. Turn signal light operates normally and dash lights are on. Man, these learning experiences are tough!!

Thanks for the help

Yeah, all the learning things keep me thinking that some day I'll understand all of it, then I realize that there will always be something else I don't know and will have to find out how to fix :)
