I removed my entire dash this past winter, pad included down to the firewall and replaced all the gaskets, seals etc, (or so I thought). I have heat coming from the vents below the wiper switch. It's only when the car's in motion and only feels hot after driving 10-15 miles or so. All the heater a/c control seem to be working OK, the A/C doesn't work but I can hear the doors opening and blower controls change state.

Any ideas where the hot air is coming from??? I must have missed something!

Thanks

Bill

Hey Bill,

On my '75, I experienced the same thing. When I bought the car, the sealing strip on the hood, which contacts the body when closed thus sealing the engine compartment, was missing. I replaced the under hood insulation and the sealing strip and that solved the problem. Apparently, the fresh air intakes are in the wiper well at the rear of the hood. Since I didn't have the sealing strip installed, warm air from the engine compartment was getting into the cabin.

Hot Ait

Hi Ron,

Holy cow, I would have never guessed that. I was ready to pull the dash apart again thinking I had forgotton to install a vent control somewhere. I'm sure glad I asked. I'll check it out when I get home.

Thanks very much.

Bill
