This last week I had my power windows quit on my 76. I traced the wires to the relay and found I had power from the fuse panel breaker but had no feed from the ignition to the relay. I am assuming that the ignition wire is part of the harness in the steering column. I have a GM service manual but it doesn't say much about this part of the car. I am not prepared to tackle changing the harness right now and wondered about picking up another circuit controlled by the ignition to operate the relay. My concern is I don't know how much power the relay pulls or if it would be safe to do. Can anyone give me some information or let me know what would be a good manual that addresses this issue. Appeciate the help.
