Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
I was able to check and add ps fluid with one hand, in the dark, in under a minute. (hot or cold engine, and without getting burned if the engine is hot)
My ps leaked for several years, requiring fluid about every 10-12 days. The last year of the leaking ps I had to add fluid after every drive over 30 miles. (daily, sometimes twice)
I had replaced several components over a period of several years, but the leak persisted. I did not achieve success until I replaced every component, all at once. I used all new parts from Ecklers.
I think your fluid leak must be pretty big (like mine was) if you are not seeing a leak and it is disappearing so quickly. Mine was covered in fluid under the vette, I wonder if yours is shooting out when under pressure? Can you check the hoses?
This is something that you will definitely want to take care of soon since it is moaning and fluid is disappearing so quickly.
