77 parking brake return spring

i have a 77 that i am putting a handbrake brake back in that had been gutted. Does the return spring at the bottom of the brake shoes go above or below the adjuster. I have holes inboth the plate that the brake shoes are mounted to (below the adjuster) and one on the plate that is perpendicular to this( the top hole).
Any help would be appriciated this:confused
