I was just surfing online at the collector's car trader online, and I found a '78 Anniversary Edition 4-speed and it seemed to be real nice. In NJ, too. I got real excited. But then I saw it was for $14,000. :( Too much for me.

L48, supposedly in good condition. Do you think that's a reasonable price? I'm not sure, so I'm asking. It's a beautiful Vette. He said it got rear-ended once, but it was fixed up real nice.

Do you think this price would go down to, say, $10,000? That's a little more reasonable in my price range.

Thanks! :D

i dont think it can be dropped to 10,000 unless you find something wrong with it, usually sellers tend to drop around 5-10% of the listed price
post a link here stallion, let us see it

If its a dealer then offer them 12 and put your 7 down and make payments.Just an idea.If you want the Vette ya gotta be creative.

I'd really try...

...to not purchase a C3 from a car dealership. All of the ones I have seen with dealerships were WAAAY over priced. $14k seems like a lot to me, and for that price, I'd expect it to be pretty cherry or close to it.
I also think the 4-speed makes it a more desireable vehicle for some purchasers. Not me, I love my automatics!

Nope, not a dealer. Just a guy selling his Vette. So, you think $14k is too much for that? What can I do? Hmm...I think the numbers match for the most part. He didn't mention doing too much to it.

Any ideas for me to get this price down maybe?

Thanks! :D

Show up with a big wad of cash in your hand. As always, money(cash) talks!

Kerbeck had 1 awhile ago,a 79 for 11k,super clean,i drove it,,,,,i held out a little longer & picked up my 78 for $8.500 with a 6 month waranty,,,,there was a 79 a couple of weeks ago running for $6k later the price dropped to $4,500....i see deals all the time in jersey,,,,passed on a 79 all apart for 1k,,,& a 69 that sat for awhile for$3.500 right around the corner,,,ya gota look in every small time local trader paper you can find,,,,if i can find em,,,so can you!!!

Sounds like it isn't the absolute one ya gotta have.
There are lots and lots of good buys on these Rockets - just keep looking/surfing/and checking....IT will find YOU! Believe me!
:w

Way too much. It would have to have only 25,000 original miles at that price. Give the seller a few months to "get real."

I got real lucky 2 months ago...picked up a '78 S/A L82 4spd Leather. All original...even spare tire, carb, clutch, & exhaust for $8,000.:s Deals are out there...

Yea, the deals are out there - just depends on what you have to spend....
I felt good about my buy on my '91....80K miles, white targa, black leather, sawblade wheels, all the bells and whistles one would want on a L98. Everything works great - all I've done is put new tires on it, splash guards, new nose/rear C4 emblems.
Flew to Miami, handed over $9100, and blasted 800 miles home!
How could I go wrong?...it was the ONE for me! I love it! :bu

In the Courier Post,,,'93 85kmiles,new tires $8800,obo ....ph no,856-719-6770

Wow! Where are you finding these!? Those are some nice prices. I'm looking around at collectorcartraderonline.com and I'm seeing some good deals that are enticing. During Christmas vacation my dad and I are going to take a ride down to look at some of these Vettes in the mid-Atlantic area.

Thanks, everyone! :D

there is a 97 coupe for 17,9 GMAC repo but then the insurance would probably kill you.
keep looking .

STALLION,ill keep my eyes peeled & when i see a c3 for a decent price ill e mail ya,or throw it up here, btw all of the vettes i mentioned were within 30 miles of my house, atlantic city being the furthest,,,winter is the best time to shop around,,,as soon as spring comes around the prices will go up

Yes, I assumed that prices would be better in the winter. Like I said, I've found some ads worth looking further into on collectorcartraderonline.com, and I'll go visit some of them.

Thanks a lot! :D I appreciate it... :)

:eek My father and I just drove down to take a look at the Vette and all I can say is...WOW! :eek :eek :D

It was just absolutely beautiful. Seemed to be in mint condition. Numbers matching. But, the price $14k is too high. He said he'd call back with what he could bring it down to.

It just took my breadth away. And the drive...WOW! :eek

I had chills going down my spine the whole time. Just amazing! I have the Vette fever. And until the day I die, it will never leave me. I promise you that.

This might not be the Vette I get, but I guarantee you that I will never stop looking and I will find "the one" and I know I will. I can just feel it.

ADVICE: What do you think a good price for that Vette would be? Around $10k? But, like I said, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Then again, I'm not an expert yet. The antenna was a little buggered up, but nothing a couple of hundred dollars couldn't fix. He just put in new exaust. Just amazing! I loved the car! :D I can't wait until I hear from him.

I'm in LOVE with that Vette! I know, I know...patience is the key. :)

Thanks! :D

It depends on the mileage and engine condition also.Is it a 4 speed or auto?
There is a 80 Corvette in my local paper for 14K that only has 19K miles on it.It is black with red interior.the add says mint condition.Being in Cali I assume it has the 305 engne 180 Hp. They only made 3K of these with the 305 engine.
Just liston to your Dad and have patience! It will happen for you.good luck.:cool
