'80 front bumper on a C5

Check out this site. Essentially, it looks like an 80-82 front bumper on a C5. I like it a lot! Looks much better than the current C5 bumper, IMHO.

Although the fit & finish seems to be lacking as far as how well the seems meet [re: huge gap!], but I still like it. I wouldn't mind seeing that bumper on my car. ....an interesting concept.

Check out the page...there are different models/pics. On one page where there are a few of them lined up, the middle dk. blue C5 looks almost like a dk. blue 1980.

The front bumper does look slick. Some of the other mods are a little overdone. I first saw this conversion at the Kruse Auburm auction 2 years ago and Mike and I looked one over at Sharkfest. The split rear window bar is poorly done, almost looks like cardboard and the C1 side coves don't go with the car. It's as if their goal was to use a promenent styling que off of each generation of Corvette.

I first saw one of these in person early in the Summer this year. The owner was very proud of it and was ready to share a scrap book of photos, info, etc.

He gave us a pretty good education on the company doing the conversion, the cost, etc.

To tell you the truth, I don't like it. I would much rather have a stock C5 than a rebodied..C?... vehicle. However, those that own these things really love them.

I think if they took it one step more and added some chrome to the kit it might just work.

I have a friend who worked at the Bowling Green plant and he design a 50th Anniversary from his point of veiw. He worked up a model and is now trying to find some company to back the building. It had a 53-55 front end with side coves. the rear window was a 63 split window and the tail was a C5. Oddly enough everything flowed together. I don't think I'll be buying one thought. Corvettes are great the way the all are.
