The dashboard lights in my '81 are not real bright even when turned up all the way. I've replaced the headlight switch and checked the ground.

I'm replacing the dash and thought I would replace all of the light bulbs while it's out. That's about $50 worth of light bulbs and not sure if it would be any better. Wondering if it is worth it. Thoughts?

Also diasassembled and was cleaning the center instrument panel and a small blue lens fell out from somewhere. It's about 3/8 x 1/2 inch. Anybody have a clue where it came from?

I did a interior overhaul 2 years ago. New headlight switch and all new bulbs. The dash is still very dim compaired to newer cars. I wished I would of installled the new led bulbs but not sure that would help either.

The blue lense is the headlight high beam. Its located between the tach and speedo in the 2nd slot from the top

Here is a Thread from back when I was R&R'ing RARE ;) I mention the bulbs I used 2825 that were 5 watt bulbs. (post #8)

I have since taken the housing assy. apart and painted the plastic blue/green housing Heat Resist White. That helps some, but it still ain't like the newer cars ;)

I changed mine for white LED bulbs. But with the blue background and blueish with LEDs the light was more blue then white.
You also have yellowish white LED bulbs but if I remember correctly for $4 a piece... no thank you!
So I changed everything back with 5watt normal bulbs, works fine for me :)

Greetings Peter
