Today my factory alatm went off unexpectedly.
moments later found that the drivers door could not be opened with key or any way. Crawled in passenger side, tried to start, but no power to starter. Assume that the security has disabled the starter.
To add to the deliemma, since the door cannot be opened, I need some advice as to how to remedy my situation. Tried to pull up on the rod for the handle; the lever is all the way up.
The hook for the latch which goes over the door jamb pin will not release. I don't want to destroy the hook to open the door to replace the lock assembly, but this seems like my only alternative. Any suggestions?

Can you pull the manual lock on the driver's door at all, or use the electric lockf from the passanger side? Sorry to be obvious, but you never know. If not, you may have to pull the door panel from inside the car. I've not done that before, but in looking at mine, I think it can be done. Once you get inside the door, there's an opening at the latch and you should be able to unlock the door there. Once you get the door open, I suspect you'll find the small plastic ring with a wire on it that is for the alarm system may be shorted to ground. The good news is that the alarm system works!!

If you don't have an AIM, this is an example of why they're really good to have around. That would show you exactly what's inside the door.

Try disconnecting the battery ground cable on the battery (5/16" box wrench), then try the key in the driver door again. The alarm / power is holding the door lock closed, without electrical power, the door should un-lock with key or pulling up on the door pin on the inside by the door release handle.
