Hi all; I lost power to the ECM in "82" Crossfire. I think it comes in the orange wire. When 12 volts is jumped to the ECM the car runs. All help greatly appreciated. Also , any suggestions where to get a good wiring diagram for this car? Thanks a ton!
There are 2 power leads, 1 ignition switched lead w/ a 10 amp fuse on the fusebox (right bank, upper fuse)
and there's the continuous power on the ram power lead which is the orange wire w/ the in line fuse holder, the wire runs to the junction block on the side of the battery compartment, this block is used for several otehr things like the charging wire (a wire leads from the block to the alt and another one to the battery + cable) It looks like a castellated piece of plastic there's a stud w/ a nut on the inside.
Without the ram power the check engine, diagnostics and BLM/INT (learning) won't work but the car will run.
This it the correct one now, they are the same ones as in my home page (which is quite messed up after I accidentally uploaded the wrong html file..I'll have it sorted someday) Bill's site has a lot of pics also (misterbill) and in the above link there are pics for the 84 wiring. If you go to the crossfire vault there's a lot of diagrams in the tech section also.
Did you locate the fuse in the battery compartment? That is the nearest point for the wire that supplies the power. check that fuse and trace the wire back to the fuse panel....it runs under your consol.
Have you checked the fuses Twin Turbo has in his listing? No power to the ECM could be because of a blown fuse. some blown fuses will stop the car from starting.
