When I bought my 82, I noticed that the speedometer was inaccurate ... it would read 60 when I was doing about 45. The tires that were on the car at the time were very small (225/50/15) so I figured that was likely the culprit, and the problem would be solved once I bought new tires in the proper size. I now have 255/60/15 tires on the car, but the speedometer is still off, reading 55 when I'm going 45. Is there a way to recalibrate the speedometer to read properly? If so, how would I go about doing it? And will it be expensive? Thanks!

I would take it to a speedo shop. They can change the gear and calibrate the speedo at the same time.

You could possibly avoid a trip to the speedo shop. Disconnect the speedo cable at the trans. Remove the clip that holds the speedo sleeve in place. Pull your sleeve out and count the teeth on the gear. Depending on your tooth count you may be able to fix your problem by merely installing a gear with 2 additional teeth. Let me know your count and post here. I'll let you know if there is a gear available to fix your inaccuracy. Your count should be in the 39-41 range.
