Searched and couldn't fine answer in other posts.

Anything I as a oil changer limited skilled owner can check or do to adjust a sudden high idle that started recently. About 1200 - 1400 even after warm. Stock automatic 84.

New to site, but it has been verh helpful finding little things I can do to mantain the car. Thanks for a helpful site.

First...their is a Crossfire site with a tech section.

http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/

second, you need to check all the hoses and plastic connectors for vacuum leaks.

third, Remove and clean the IAC (idle Air Controller) their is one on each throddle body.

Forth, Check the intake manifold cover gasket for leaks.

What you need is the manufactures manuel, with the electrical supplement http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r=

Thanks John, will give it a try

Thanks for the tips

I have a 84.. Don't forget that if you remove the IACs for cleaning or if you disconnect the battery you will need to reset the IACs. This is done by starting it up (the idle will be high) and then you need to drive it over 40 mph for a bit. Driving over 40 mph is actually what resets the IACs. If the idle does not settle down after that you may have a bad IAC or a vacuum leak somewhere. Try tightening down the top plate on the manifold and also the TBs. If you need new gaskets you can get them from Rockauto.com.

Thanks elkabong

Out of town for a couple weeks, will try your tips on return.

Thanks for tips and links.
