Question: 84 pricing question

Greg The 4+3 highway mileage is not going to be noticeably different with 0.67:1 overdrive ratio vs. 0.7:1 OD ratio with the 700R4 automatic. In stock form they get mid-20s on the highway...most certainly not mid-30s!

I guess the fella must have been dreamin' while driving his Vette! :boogie

Of course, with my LT4 getting over 600 HP from the factory, I guess almost anything could be true with these vehicles! :boogie :boogie :boogie

Hi Butch,

I would definitely keep looking. There are thousands of Corvettes for sale everywhere, and you can find a much newer one in better condition. It's very easy to "fall in love" with the first one or two that you check out. Unfortunately, the C4's have gone way down in value so there are a lot of newer ones that you can pick up at good prices.

I had an '88 4+3 convertible and was always afraid I'd have trouble with that problematic tranny. By 1988, they had supposedly fixed all the problems, and '84 and '85 were more prone to having problems with that transmission. Keep looking! Later C4's (1989 and later) came with 6-speeds...much nicer!

Good luck...and if I can help you at all, please don't hesitate to call me!

For $9000 grand Id look for a car that hasn't been messed with regardless of what year it was.Pass on this one, theres just too many cars out there.

NADA has Classic Car pricing. Check out this link:

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1984&m=1035&d=37&c=13&o=33580~33581&vi=66669&z=60631&da=-1

I was surprised a little at the price. Like I said before, 1984 is first C4 and will continue to appreciate in value. JMHO! :beer
