85 fuel rail help

time to replace my fuel regulator so I dissambled it to replace my injector o-rings also.When I took out the fuel rail I didn't see any o-rings at the threaded inlet and outlet from the fuel pump.My Haynes manual shows a diagram with 2 o-rings at this point.Was I missing them or is the manual wrong.

well I'll answer my own question in case someone ever needs to know.Yes there are two orings on the fuel rail inlet and outlet.They are the brown viton orings and fit over the ends of the tubes ,not inside the rail.

was wondering was it a pretty easy or PITA job to do?? did you do it becuse of need or want?

I was just about to say look at the lines themselves, but good on ya' for finding it.

It wasn't bad for me .The 85 isn't my daily driver so I was able to take my time.You have to remove the intake to get to the fuel rails (watch for the mystery bolts thru the back of the runners),after that it was straight forward.I just wanted to be sure of the o'rings etc.,so I didn't get any fuel leaks.

It was because I had to.Fuel regulator went bad.When I finally removed it then the diaphram wasn't cracked the shaft had gotten stuck in the open position and gave me a fuel pressure drop to 0 after the 2 second fuel pump cycle when turning on the key.

so this shaft that was stuck open could you have gotten to it with out takeing the rail off, or did you have to take it off anyway if thats all it needed? only reason i am asking is i think i have a couple of injectors leaking down in 4 and 6 pistons, when i did a plug change those 2 had a strong gas smell? and i think i am getting the tell tail sign with the long start when engine is warm?

Take your time to triple-check the O-rings (and everything else of course) as you put it back together, or you'll have to do double work as I did.

I missed an O-ring that didn't fully seat and had gasoline spraying everywhere. :eek

I had to take it all apart and start over.
