Havent been driving the car much in the last few months,

Broke my ankle on moto-x track, makes pushing that clutch in painfull..

However I've been starting it every other week and letting it warm up, the car fires up quick and within a few seconds begins to run rough and smell rich, if i give a little throttle to see if it will clean itself out and the SES light comes on,

as it warms up, it begins to run fine and smell normal, and once on the road she runs great, but SES light will stay on until its shut off and re-started the no SES light,

car has 70K on it, I know injectors leak abit, would this cause rough rich running condition upon start-up?

BTW car has had extensive tune-up / service performed lately.
and has genneraly run great ever since.

"^^^" means that I bumped this post back to the top of the stack in order to try and provoke some response for you. I don't have an answer for you but I thought I'd try to get someone else to help. ;)

Thanx Ken

my own thoughts

new TPS needs re-adjusting?

IAC is new, no adjusting there right?

Clean throttle body again..

Some sort of vacuum leak?

Do these cars have a cold start "choke like" apparatus
that is malfunctuning?

If given light throttle (1500 rpms) as it warms, car cleans out and runs fine however SES light appears..

cold start injector not working?
did you try to down load the code? All it takes is a paper clip. get the codes and post here if you don't have a manual. I know a lot of people here have the manuals for your 86. if not I have one for an 87 should be the the same right?

[edit] just a thought I know some where here there is a table or something about testing your injectors for ohms if it doesn't have a certian resistence then the injector is bad.

IAC doesn't need adjusting
TPS .54v?

The best place to start is see what code is getting thrown and that may lead you right to it.
If I had to guess:
Sounds like the mixture is rich until the car warms up and the PCM takes over in closed loop. A unusually leaky injector can cause it or high fuel pressure. Or the IAT could do it.
The IAT and the pressure is easy to check. Leave the injector testing to those with the proper equipment.

Good luck and let us know,

Does it occur after the car has sat a while? If so when you start the car the next time it happens , shut it off right away before it gets hot. Pull the plugs one by one and check them for fouling by either gas or oil. I have seen this before in older cars the have valve seals leaking fouling the plugs. Oil runs down the valve and fouls the plug over and over and this can cause the engine to run rough till it burns the stuff off of the plug.If its bad enough it wont burn off and will become a dead miss. Thats why you need to check the plugs.Dont remove the plugs when the engine is hot or you could end up stripping out the plug threads in the head. The plugs will tell the story as to which cylinder(S) are messing up. From here its just a matter of repair once the problem is identified.
