Hello everyone,

Was i telling about 1 of 2 (i already forgot) months ago we (Corvette/Callaway fans) found the only Callaway in Holland (Netherlands) Here i am again! With even better news!!

89_10a.jpg

The famous 89 #10 Callaway has found a new home. Yes, that's correct if the payment is done and shipping is no problem this baby is in for it's third owner! You hear it correctly and almost as first, this news is only one day old.
It's new owner is Arie Ydo, and lives in Holland!! :D
:beer Sorry folks this Callaway is staying in europe...

He flew with a good Corvette mechanic to Claremont and checked the #10 from top to bottom. There had been contact with Callaway for some extra info on this rare Callaway. The #10 has a great history story and the story continues!! :)

Arie already has a custom c2, c3 and c5 and a normal c3, so this is his first c4. We hope to welkom it in Holland in about 4 weeks, now it's still in Claremont UK.

For picture's see:

(Arie is in close up in foto 1101 :)
Enjoy, I hope Arie wil be joying this forum to, but i don't know if english is a problem for him...

Groeten Peter.

This is good news! It's been a looong time since we've heard anything about the elusive #10 !

:cry :(

That car wasn't supposed to sell til I was ready to buy :D

Send me his email address so I'll know who to buy it from when the time is right ;)

Callaway 1989 #10

Well I was interested in that car and spoke with Claremont about the car as well as Callaway But I decided to pass as the wife would have killed me if I bought it. I was hoping to buy it in the future if it was still on the market. Good Luck with the car . And Let us know how it performs.

Peter, that is very interesting news!!! That is a very special car and has seen many trips to Old Lyme for work done :upthumbs

Do you know how the car will be used?? Shows, track?? or just pleasure?? :v

Does Holland have traditional speed limits?
Hopefully the car will see its extreme top speed again in its new location!!!!

Thanks for the update :m

I think Arie will be joining this forum soon.
It's his Callaway so i'll let him tell the hole story offcourse!
Here in Holland we have a 120km about 65mph speedlimit, but within 2 houres we are on the Deutschen autobahn (no speedlimit), so we'll see :beer

Josh and Pete, maybe you can subscribe to the #10 for a buyoption... You come in second and third after me ;) :D

Groeten Peter.

Peter,

I'm glad 89-010 has found a new home. I think he got one hell of a good deal.

It would be great if Arie can join us here in the Callaway Forum. I would love to hear how he likes his new toy and I am sure he might find some of the information posted here very useful.

Cheers!

Luigi

A quick update...

The #10 has arrived in Holland, but it will take a few weeks to get a licenseplate for it.. Great problem with these cars is that most of the special car's (even a 96 LT4 manual shift) aren't included in the database of the "goverment" appartment of vehicles and infrastructure (or something like that in english) so the car's don't get a roadclearence.. (even wouldn't be allowed for a roadclearence test/check) :eek
Easy way (well easy...) to get around this problem is to go to Germany with the car (i don't know if the #10 has the same problem but i think so..) and get a roadclearence test over there (there laws are easier than in Holland). But the German roadcleanerence is also allowed in Holland so it will get the clearence aswell over here.. But it will take much more time and money offcourse... Another problem is that for the check the Callaway has to meet all of the checkpoints.. So a rear foglight has to be installed etc etc..
But they be installed just of the clearence and after it removed without ajusting the Callaway.. maybe some extra screwholes, but not in visual locations)

Here are some pictures of the travel from Clearmont to Lelystad (Holland)

The Dutch Corvette forum has some members (incl me offcourse) that would like to see the #10 irl. So on the 8th of Februari there is a Forum/Callaway meeting in Lelystad so everybody can see this beauty with his own eyes..
I'll be there and make some pictures offcourse..

@Chris, I don't know when this Callaway is going to hit 200+ but I hope to be there with a camera to get it on film :D :cool

Groeten Peter.

That is GREAT!! Peter :) Glad to see she has a new home :upthumbs
Callaway Competition is in Germany and if there is any difficulty w/ getting the car registered, they may be of assistance.

Where is Callaway4Fun - he would be having an absolute FIT seeing 89-010 on a TRAILER :eek

Peter, What is the story behind this pic:
Seems like a lot of cars in one place...

Thanks for sharing!:w

How did #10 end up so fast and how did it end up with the different front nose piece?

Hi Peter

Maybe we'll see the car and you on our German trip (9th - 12th July). Hockenheim & Nurburgring. I presume you know about this from the pistonheads forum (www.pistonheads.co.uk) I'm malc350 there too.

That car was for sale for a long time, maybe a year and a half and it's staying in Europe! Looks like there are quite a few Callaways in Europe now. Mind you it might just seem that way because in the UK we always feel like we "know" the vettes in the country as it's comparatively a minority interest. At last count we reckoned on about 10 Callaways in the UK:

One 91
One 90 (mine!)
Five 87s
One 88 (convertible)
The only 89 I knew of has just left the country!

There are no SNATs or otherwise normally aspirated Callaways that I know of over here.

That looks like the ferry from the UK to Holland (or France but I presume the car went by ferry to Holland rather than drive to France - I'd rather drive it though!!!)

C4s can be a bit tricky to get on or off the ferries due to their low ground clearance.

You're correct Malc!,

It went on the ferry from the UK to Holland. I think he chose for the Holland line instead of the France line (this line is shorter so less risk with ruff wave's on sea) because the insurance and that sort of stuff was a problem. I know he likes driving it much better than on a trailer, but a trailer from France offcourse is to far.. (the tunnel with train for cartransport has the same problem and there isn't much room in the trailers, drive straight forward or your rims could be in big trouble)

So the Callaway on the pic is in the dockingbay inside off the ferry i think.
The ferry is just so heavey that wave's almost have no impact on the him, i've been on a internal transport ferry here in Holland but it's very save. Indeed the entery and exit on the ferry's (the have 2 deck's i think) is very tricky, on the upper deck you have less problem's with ground clearance then on the bottom deck.

@Malc, sorry i've lost track on the pistonhead forum but will update in reading the topic! I've checked with our club meetings but for that weekend there is no meeting planned. Hockenheim and the Nurburgring are much better than the static meetings we have all of the time! I'll be comming back on this item! Is this btw nothing for Bluewasp, he's stationed in Germany from time to time as far as i know...
