Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

89 #10 Hot News!!!

Chris, sorry no news till so far.

We have about 1500 corvette's (from 1953 till 2005) in Holland (have two Callaway's as far as i know, number one is in the collection of our biggest NL corvette collector, the second one is #010 from Arie)
I haven't seen Arie after Fame and he hasn't been online to.. so i don't know.
On April the 24th we have our club's 05 openingsmeeting so then he'll be there!
I'll take some pictures and post the update's (if there are) here.

Groeten Peter.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday our openingsmeeting for this year. Arie didn't bring his Callaway but a costum c3. It was a great day with to much friends, so i didn't have the change to talk to Arie (he was very busy to).
For everybody how want's to know how corvette meetings are here in Holland, some picture's: http://www.vettefreak.nl/nieuwegein2005thumbs.htm

Fame05 is also ready to go for this year! 2 and 3 July.

Today we had our technical club-meeting here in Holland. Arie brought his #010 and his C1. He also said on our forum he bought a C6 ZO6 in Germany and it will be delivered next week. His custom c5 was put on a slower track but he will finish it this year. I only read and reply to Arie's replies on our forum i didn't speak with him today!

Please try to remember I'm also a big Callaway fan and it isn't my car. I'm only a messenger to bring you updates on this one of a kind Callaway. I don't like what i see but it isn't my car and i think Arie is well aware of the fact that i liked the Callaway in his "original" shape better then this.

The red wire hoses and spark lines where there also 2 years ago, the airpomp then was also replaced then by a pulley. And he changed the valvecovers with chrome aftermarked c4 one's.

He placed a route-master thing under the dash and some buttons for the nos intake in the center-console.

IMG_2995.JPG

They made a custom "Callaway" nos bottle in the rear. Originally the sticker on the windshield said "AJ's corvette clinic" But because Arie and AJ's separated i think he removed 50% of the sticker. Remember the lower halve circle or the missing upper part...

Same old rear.

The intercoolers. As you can see the Nos outlets are turned up wards and not down so the outgoing nos is only for a special effect and not for freezing the intercoolers. Only now i see more red in the picture then on location, i think they painted something like the front crossmember red, but i don't know. Also here you see the same sticker.

Here the front with a open hood. You see the Callaway emblem damaged. It could be by some accident but the radiator behind it has no damage. The other thing is... now it looks the same as the stickers. I'm saying nothing, you can speculate for your own.

The only irreversibly thing i see is the hole's in the intercooler carbon air"brackets" for the nos line's. The rest can be replaced. Car is greatly taken care of in technical as in storage terms.

Thats good to see. Nothing there that can't be fixed.

Biding my time :D

and again I couldn't be there :cry

I am working on the new interior of my Vette so it is not out of storage yet
looks like I miss the openingsmeeting in April too.

Thanks for sharing those pics Peter :m

Surf - You still hoping to buy it when he gets bored witht he car??

A little JB Weld, and you'll never know it has Nosssssss... :ugh

We have the technology, Sir. She can be saved. :D

Arie takes good care of his vette's so you don't need to worry about that. He also has a body off restored and matching C1 (as far a i know) So you surely knows how to appreciate the qualities of a corvette. I know the "moke up" on the Callaway is just some personal Arie flavor and he will not continue modifying it. But I'm not Arie so I'm only guessing ;)

Peter, I suppose the #1 question at hand is, does Arie keep his Corvettes for long??

Well, i can't read his mind, but i think he does. Almost all his corvette's (accept the C1) are high power v8's. So the #010 is a prime and rare example. But when i see him (maybe tomorrow) i'll ask what he is doing to do with al his vette's :)

I'm glad you guys are so into taking pictures. The Callaway TT stuff is alway so beautiful. I love how those intercooler shrouds look!

Question on the direction of the nozzles, though. Even if they were down, isn't air flowing the opposite way through them? So in the location they are now, could it ever really cool the intercooler unless the car was stationary?

You're correct! The airflow through the intercoolers is from the bottom to the top. So for the nozzles to work (to cool the intercoolers) they have to be mounted under the intercoolers :).

We had another meeting today (sorry no picture's this time). But if somebody wants a praticular picture / detail of this Callaway or another dutch corvette just let me know. Arie was also there, there where only 9 corvettes do to bad weather in the morning. Now i had the change to talk to Arie for a long time (to talk to everybody with only 9 corvettes there of course :D)
He really likes his Callaway (010), it rides very differend then his new ZO6 and it has his charme of course. He had some emails from England and the States from people who wanted to buy this 010 but he isn't going to sell it. He partly sees it as a unique model and sort of a investment like his C1. It was very nice to hear he enjoys his hobby the same way i do. I'm happy with the things i have, in disregard to the valvue they have. To explain, i can be very happy with a connector i custom made to my tach cluster for $5 as in letting my car being painted for $2000. I also totally agree on the subject he sees some strong c3/corvette lines returned in the C6 ZO6 which he and i missed in the C5 and normal C6. But for me the last real corvette still is a C4.
Maybe i also have to put the new ZO6 to that list but we'll see ;)
