89 R/T WITH VERY HARD BRAKE PEDEL. APPLY BRAKE SLOWLY AND CAR DOES STOP. APPLY BRAKE ABRUPTLY, SUCH AS AVOIDING A COLLISION OR RED LITE STOP ETC. BRAKE PEDEL REQUIRES TREMENDES PRESSURE TO STOP CAR. DEPENDING ON MY SPEED, 35,45,65 ETC. DETERMINS MY STOPING DISTANCE. NEW PAD'S, NEW MASTER CYLINDER, NEW BOOSTER AND NEW FRONT CALIPERS AND STILL HAVE A VERY, VERY HARD BRAKE PEDEL. DEATERSHIP SAID MY BRAKE'S INCLUDING ABS WERE WORKING PROPERLY. ALL REPLACEMENT'S [ REPAIR'S ] WERE NOT DONE AT THE SAME TIME. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ON THERE VETTE ?? WHAT WAS CAUSING THE HARD BREAK AND WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT IT ?? ALL HELP WILL BE WELL APPRECIATED. SPIKE

I've been told (after my *****ing...) that the C4 brakes take a lot of force in those instances you need quick braking. One thing to check...is less force needed to stop the car when the engine is running? If so, the booster is working. If the feel is the same as when the engine is off then the booster is bad. I saw you replaced it but thought I would mention it anyway.

I had some brake work done--rotors turned, new semi-metallic pads (Bendix), all new fluid and steel brake lines put in. The pedal force needed is still hard but the car stops much better now, which translates to a little less force needed than before for the same stopping power.

Spike, please turn your upper case lock off. If you type in upper case letters, it appears as though you are shouting, and that is considered rude "netiquette." ;)

Thank's for the info, but there has to be something not working properly. Is there a simple way to test both brake system's ?? Excluding the ABS system. Front brake system only, then test the rear brake system only ?? When I bought the car 3 yr's ago, I could stop on a dime with normal brake pedel pressure. Thank's again for your help. Spike

The vacuum booster is your assist. I Think there could be a vacuum related problem . Like no vacuum. Check to see that the hose to the booster is not crimped or that the fitting on the plentum is ok.

Thank's Maxrevs85 for your info. Had new booster installed a month or so ago at a chev. dealership. Will check the hose myself, just to be sure. Thank's Again Spike
