I replaced my spark plugs the other day on my 89(very easy only had to remove one AC bracket). Now I want to replace the wires. My question is how do I get to the bracket under the distributer holding the wires? Will I have to remove the distributer or will the wires just pull out?

When I changed my wires to Accel I also changed the distributer abd added super coil as a package deal. Suggest same.

Do you have a source and part numbers? Did you have to remove the distributer?

Maybe they made converts different or something but my '89 Coupe doesn't have what your talking about. The plug wires just pull out of the distributor. You have a pic of this or?? ;shrug

neither of my 89's use that bracket you mention...
Once you remove the TPI cover (torx bolts) the plug wires are just sitting there...

On my one 89, I use a performance distributors coil in place of the factory piece :) I bought it from RHS in TN.

I do believe the reference is to the wire looms that you all will find on the back of the engine block. The factory routed the wires behind the block and under the headers, which most mechanics don't bother to reinstall the same way - it's way too difficult to justify the labor costs. ;)

By the way, the wires should just pull out of the looms.

Thanks guys for your assistance. You pretty much answered my question. I am going to re-route the wires as suggested.
