:beer Has anybody changed their earlier Vette to R134? If so does it get reasonably cold and have you encountered any other problems? Any input would be appreciated before Thursday 1/11/07. Thanks

I have never done a vette but have converted a number of other GM cars, all built in the 80s. They all turned out quite well. I even had an 82 Grand Am that was colder than with the R12. The amount of R134A you put in is critical. You might consider using a diff. orfice such as one for a Ford or the new self adjusting ,which I found at NAPA. There are threads on this from last summer.

Thanks for responding, could you explain using a diff orfice and the self adjusting, and how would I determine what the right amount would be?

By weight use 80% of what it calls for on R1. The orfice is int the low pressure line at a connection, usually close to the evaporator. The orfice controls the amount of flow. I am not sure how the self adjusting ones work and never used one but they have been suggested as a very good option.
