Oh Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!!

The wait is over. It's been just over a month since I made the deal in Denver and three weeks since I actually paid for the car. Made the transportation arrangements on June 18th.

InterCity Lines delivered the Quasar yesterday at noon. Tom and his wife Hanna were in constant contact with me starting on Wednesday night when they were delivering a couple of cars in Wisconsin. I provided a short cut to get them around the Detroit traffic snarls and they arrived ahead of schedule!!

The cars are double covered in the transport truck, one cloth cover and a second plastic one over the cloth. The first step was to get those off and then remove the hold-down straps.

Wearing white gloves and checking to see that the seat cover and floor protective mat (that they provided) were in place, Hanna got in the Callaway and backed it out of the upper level with Tom handling the lift controls. They gave me a detailed checklist showing the condition of the car when it was picked up (every single thing). It was signed by the previous owner so everybody knows what was what when the journey started. Needless to say, they did a fantastic job. My two sons were manning the digital movie camera and digital "still" camera so I've got the whole thing on tape and diskette.

Took everyone out for a ride, one at a time of course, even my neighbor. He isn't too familiar with Corvettes so the funniest question was "Does it have a back seat?". Finally found some open road and punched it when he was in the car and came to a stop behind a late model Impala. The driver was watching in the rear view mirror and gave me the "thumbs up" sign. My neighbor saw this and said " I guess he's happy you stopped in time....". Maybe he just knew the Chevrolet bloodline and what a Callaway looked like from the front.....

Took the solid roof off and put the clear blue one on and with the dark tinted windows, it does look quite a bit different. The entire greenhouse portion of the car is all one matching dark tinted color with only the B pillar looking like a big blue roll bar!!!

The last family member to go for a ride was my wife. She has to put up with my ever changing expensive obsessions and she was really great. Her last comment was "So are you going to stop being a grouch now? For the last month, you've been a real pain in the a**". I guess my reply wasn't necessary, as the grin hasn't left my face yet. Ordered the personalized plate "VRYFAST" which will be mailed in a few weeks.

I'd like to post some of the pictures, but do not have access to a "public" server. Anybody want to host a few snapshots for a short time?

The only thing that I noticed was that the oil temperature gauge looks like it is not functioning. Needle stayed at the bottom end (100) and never moved. Anybody got any ideas on what could be causing that and about how much it would cost to fix??

Let the good times roll.......

We're all like kids when we buy a new toy, and the moment that the new toy arrives is near magic.

91 Callaways share the same oil cooler as the ZR1, and are extremely efficient, the gage on my car will also stay near the 100.

Congrats on the new toy:beer

Glad to hear the new toy is home! I like what 8388 said about being a kid with a new toy... it is so true!

The analog gage is difficult to read out anything in + or - 25 degrees. If you flip through the D.I.C. by pushing the "gauges" button on the dash-- it'll give you the digital readout of the oil temp in the center of the dash. After cruising for 10 mins or so in 60-80 weather it should come up above 150 and hover around 200 or so while cruising. If you stand on it repeatedly (highly recommended!) then it'll creep up a little more.. but nothing to worry about. Just let the car idle down for a few minutes before shutting it off.

p.s. When you place a post in the CAC, just click on the "Browse" button below the text window. You can automatically upload picture files that are less than 65kb. Using "Paint" or any other photo program will allow you to downsize them!

Congrats again! :beer

I NEVER get into a boosted situation until my oil temp reaches 150 degrees. It will take a while for the oil to warm up due to the large amount of it in the motor.

Man those pics ROCK. Im jealous of the Aerobody....your car looks great!!!

The analog oil temp gauge basically does not work... AND 1991's did not have the Gauges button feature to get the digital readout. Chevy didn't start that until 1992 or 1993, I can't remember what year off the top of my head.

They started with the digital LCD readout for Gauges in 1992.

I saw a feature on television this morning about the transport co. you used - they seemed to be above a First Class company - I think you get what you pay for with those companies - How many miles have you driven it so far since she arrived???:Steer

Yeah, It was nerve racking seeing the car ten feet in the air. Thursday afternoon required a short ride for all the family members, then there was the ride up to the club's sponsor (Cauley Chevrolet) and a bit of joy riding this weekend.

There is a weekly "cruise" at Bakers restaurant located in Milford. My son and I rolled in and looked through all the cars. Since the bugs had collected on the Callaways windshield, we took it back home and cleaned it up and went back just in time for a rain storm to appear on the horizon. Packed up and got back to the garage just before the rain hit.....

It all adds up to about 200 miles, in just three days.

But I still love the sound of those turbos......

That has to be one of my top loves of this car....aside from the insane torque of course. But it is a total package...turbos spooling then off you go :D :D :D :D

Well it's been about three weeks and I've only added 400-some miles.

Getting ready for car shows on consecutive weekends, 8/2/03 (North Oaks in Waterford) and 8/9/03 (Corvettes America @ GM Tech Center).

Propping up that hood certainly draws a crowd! I'm finding out that detailing the engine compartment after you arrive at the show is difficult, if not impossible due to the heat rolling off the intercoolers. No big deal, I just detail that area the night before and pray I don't have to drive over dirt roads at the show.

Sounds like you are having a BLAST :upthumbs with the new Callaway!!
I have added about 1400 miles since buying mine a few years ago and it kinda made me sick to have such a beautiful car that I wasn't enjoying - I bought a 2nd aerobody Callaway :D
The beauty of the Supernatural is that it has the same "wrapper" as the B2K but I am not quite as nervous about driving the heck out of it :D

Miles of simles :beer
