I need to replace the derlin bushings, and need to know how to remove the motor. Does the entire headlight assembly need to be removed? Or can the motor be taken out by itself. Are there any pictures/ instructions etc available?
I do not immediatly see what to unbolt ! Any help is appreiciated! Thanks!

When I did mine I pulled the whole assy. The motor is a PITA to get out, and disassembly needs to be done with a vise to press the shaft out.

Do a search for headlight motor. There have been posts that show the procedure, but I think they were actually links elsewhere.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Check www.corvettefever.com click on their Tech Articles and scroll till you find the article that covers the replacment of the bushings. Not a difficult job at all in my opinion. Good Luck!! Doug

That article is called"Make Your C4 See Well" it's a step-by-step with pictures!! Doug

I knew there was an article somewhere ... just couldn't remember where.

Thanks Dougs91

It is much easier to do, by removing the four fastners that hold the headlight assy. in the car.

It is also a good idea to do both sides at one time vs. one side, as the other is sure to go soon :eek

Two mos. ago, Corvette Enthusiast Magazine ran an article on the subject w/ step by step directions, taking a reported, couple hours for both sides.

Yeah, it's easiest to simply remove the entire headlight and take it to your work table for disassembly. But I didn't use a vise to remove the motor, wow imagine crushing that thing and having to pay $250 for a new one. Anyway, I just used a punch to remove the pin in the shaft and the motor popped right out. IIRC it took me about an hour to do one side and thirty minutes to do the other side, a fairly easy job.

Thanks to all ....the photos made it all much easier! I will do this on Friday!
