We've got a 93 LT 1 that had run great for a long time.Recently,somebody siphoned the gas out of it and that's when my problems started.
When we got in the car after this it ran fine,I drove a couple of streets over from my house and stayed at a friends for a while and when I came out it wouldn't start.So we put gas in the tank and it still wouldn't start.We finally got it started and I drove on to work with no problems.After work,I came out and it wouldn't start again.Tried forever to get it to start but just wouldn't catch.
We ended up running the battery down trying to get it started.After a couple days a friend suggested we try some starting fluid(bad idea)the starting fluid managed to catch fire and so we doused the engine with some water and got the fire put out.(Yikes,Optispark!!)Somehow we managed to get it started,but I don't know how because I wasn't there.We brought the car home and now it's sitting in the driveway and it won't start again.
Fuel pump seems OK.It is getting spark.The weird part is the code.I get a code 13.I don't have SRC,and that is the only code that comes out.
It's an automatic with about 115,000.We have had it about a year and I am assuming that the optispark has been updated.
From what I under stand,the fuel pump is actually kept cool with the gas in the tank.Is it possible that the pump was damaged when the *&^(* siphoned the gas out?
