Andy, thanks for the recommendation. I emailed Lingenfelter last week about this very question, but haven't heard back. There's a slip of paper with the cam that lists some suggested springs/retainers, but the part number for the springs didn't match anything on their web site (!) I may try and call them.

I'm leaning more towards the durability side than the utmost performance.

Did you see that I got a PowerEffects exhaust?

Neither - a local used-car dealer. Long story short - I stopped in to look at a red C4 (just for fun) and while talking to the salesman he mentioned that they'd had to remove an exhaust from it because it wouldn't pass title-transfer inspection and the old one was sitting in their garage bay. Walked over and saw it was a PowerEffects and made an offer. Lot owner called me later and we agreed on a price. Apparently the car had been modified quite a bit and there were no cats on it so they found it easiest/cheapest to replace everything from the front Y-pipe back with a cheap setup.

It needs some cleaning up, but seems sound. The car itself is an interesting story waiting to be uncovered. It's a 90, 6-speed, with the PE exhaust, an aftermarket adjustable suspension (controls in center console), open airbox w/K&N, obviously non-stock fuel injectors, a second (digital) tach stuck on the dash by the analog one, wood steering wheel (tastefully done, but not right with the red/black interior). My question was what other mods were there that COULDN'T be seen... They'd take $10k for it; it's been sitting there for months (they're primarily a truck dealer; took it on trade) and they want to move it.

You test drove this thing? What dealer? That was a good stroke of luck. I found a 93 with 102 k from a private owner once, with the PE. I went there and drove it with him for a very short test drive, and asked about swapping systems or buying it out right, he wanted nothing to do with either.

What miles did it have? I think 10k is too high for a stock90, under 100k mi. Since they don't know what was done to it, that really drops the value.

Didn't test drive it yet. It's got 90k miles. It's at the (truck) dealer across Veteran's Hwy from TFCU in Olde Mill. Blue book is *supposedly* $12.5k; I got the idea they have near $10k in it themselves. They're NOT Vette people.

thats not that high for a price. to you and me it is but from a dealer it isn't.

seems that no matter if it's an 85 - 95 if it has 50k in miles to 100k in miles the going price is 10-15k on average for a good corvette with good int and ext.

i'm not saying this car is worth 10k i don't know haven't seen it but that seems to be the norm. seems like the coupes less than 100k miles have hit rock bottom and are staying stable in the 10-15k range on price. 15k being in immaculant shape.

once they hit over 100k in miles seems like the going price is 6-8k on average and sometimes even cheaper.

ok... now i understand the engine build story better. What is the current estimated completion date now? is this guy back from vacation yet?

Yes--he's back. No reason I could imagine for it not to be done today or tomorrow...
