Stopped for gas and won't start. Down here in phx it around 108 degrees and the vette is running around 205-227 with a/c cranked. I thought it was the starter but its not. The batt volts are good 12.6. When turning it to the crank pos it doesn't draw anything from the batt. After reading the manual I started to look towards the anti-theft sys. The secuity light does stay on when in the crank pos so I figered it was the key chip. I did go and get a new key from the dealer and still same thing. Being I was far from home I had to have it towed to a vette shop down here so they got the car. I just want to know if anyone has had similer probs so when they call I have a clue

Thanks and I'll post what they say it is

Haven't had that happen yet> I have a 93. Are you or were you able to turn the security system off with the remote or no? Please do post when you find out what went wrong.

Alarm

Playing with the alarm I had the key out of the ignition opened door and locked it with the power switch and closed the door which arms the alarm. I then disarmed it with the door lock key and still no start. The manual says that you can disarm the car by eather the door key or by putting the ignition key in the ignition. It dose stop beeping when I use the door lock key but not the ignition. No matter how I played with it no start. The key FOB took a crap years ago so this was the way I have been using the sys.

I repair the FOB's if you still have yours....send me email if you are interested.

You can check a post of mine from a few days ago for specifics when my theft deterrent system went wiggy-largely stemming from me opening the passenger door and setting off alarm.

Around the 3rd/4th time I did this is when the trouble started. I had to charge the car to get it to start cause I didn't think the alarm system shut the car down. It had been working great hours before hand. But..., after starting car and driving around awhile...

I noticed 'SYS' flashing every 10-15 seconds or so next to mph readout.

Car is in shop for CCM check, battery replacement, etc.

Update to follow.

One more thing-
205-227 temp-wise is really hot! And AC running too!?!
Insulate that starter.

I beleave this is hot too and I thought it was the starter which is common here in Az The silenoids just don't last. But as I've seen from other post my temps are normal and maybe even good for this heat??

Thanks

You know you got me thinking after paying for gas I went out to the car and unlocked the pass door to let my daughter in and never messed with that lock again maybe its that door lock didn't fully disarm???

Thanks

Also note that the "keyless entry thingy" communicates with the car while running. I would think this thing has to work to start the car. You said yours crapped out.

Well the vette is fixed...

It turned out to be the Ignition barral. I guess there are little wires in there that are for the chip in the key and they or a couple of them broke causing the car not to read the key chip. The job is a pain and exspensive due to the air bag so I hope no one else has to deal with this..
