my 94 wont turn over. Just got the oil changed and the guy used casteroil synthetic, hey said this was fine. On the way home the service ingine light came on. After driving for a while in shut off, but when i started it again it stayed on. Now it won't turn over, i thought it was running a little sluggish after the oil change but could be my imagination. This is my first vette and the weather in Boston is finally breaking. I would appreciate any suggestions.
thanks

Is that all you had done was an oil change? No maintenence check included? Sometimes they do thid and take the air filter and other part off to check things out.

when i first got the car in Feb. they checked it out and said it was fine. They told me to come back for a tune up and it would cost about $800. Needless to say i am leary of this shop. All they did yesterday was oil change.

Tune ups are very expensive for the 92-96 because of the optispark system. You have to check if there is spark or fuel pressure. If you post some of these things you will get more help.:CAC

Did the shop indicate if there were any codes present, or did they check for them?:Steer

My mechanic could not gett any readings on the computer. so he is going to check all the wirering. Thanks for you imput, keep it coming , this site is very helpful

do you have power when you turn the key on? just checking all the bases. I have had some trouble with the wiring to the Starter, you didnt mention if you noticed if the Check Engine light came on as the car died, or when you did get it restarted.

I am sorry ,you did mention that the check engine light came on, my mistake, I got sidetracked by others when I was responding.

I am a bit surprised that there were no codes to be pulled from the car. The Check Engine Light is usually indicative of a code(s). Keep us posted on this, I am curious as to what the problem may be.

Personally, I do not allow anyone else to change the oil on my car. If I do it myself then I know exactly what was done and that it was done correctly. It offers peace of mind.

The oil that they used should be okay as long as it WAS a fully synthetic oil - no blends and no "regular" oil.

What year Vette is it? Mileage? If you have the Opti-Spark, you can be sure that a tune-up will cost far more than $800.00. I had my Opti-Spark, water pump, plugs and wires done 1,000 miles ago and the cost was $1,200.00. :crazy The shop that you have taken the car to sounds a little suspect to me; go with your gut feeling on their ability. :v

I know this may sound strange but check the oil level on the dip stick. Once in a great while they will forget to drain the old oil and pump in 5 qts of new. I know this sounds crazy but this did happen to a friend (not a vette) a while ago and the car ran Ok at first then began to miss fire and eventually quit all togeter. It's a simple check...
