I'm sending my seats off to be re-covered. I easily removed the bottom cushion but am having difficulty determining the best option for removing and sending the seat backs.

Any suggestions? and how is the best way to remove the seat backs?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Big,

They are easy to take off but quite a bear (ha) to get back on. Two wires hold the backs on with clips. I suggest removing the seats by unbolting the four bolts that hold the seats to the tracks and wrestling them on a bench. It should cut the cussing in half.

The procedure you quote is for pre 93' cars I believe. My car is a 94 and the seats do not have the back shell or the clips that you refer to. Any other suggestions?

I will try to look at my seats to see if there is anything to help you.

I am planning on doing this in a few months as well on my 94-96 style seats.

Does the Shop manual say anything?

Thanks for the Sans

I can cut a couple of scans from the manual for ya. e-mail is roman67844@cs.com. Advise.
The scans from the manual did the trick. I can now see exactly what components of the hinge need removing.

Jeff and all,

Thanks for all the help. I have sent my seats off to Al Knoch Interiors in Texas and will now patiently wait while the cruising weather is getting better by the day. I guess I could put a milk crate and a pillow in there if I wanted to go cruisin' ! :L

I attached a picture of another guy's seats from the Corvette Forum, he sent me the pictures so that I may find a person to do the same for me. It is my hopes that my seats turn out like these. I have spoke with Dale at Al KNoch Interiors and he seems to think this will not be a problem. They should get the seats by next Wednesday or Thursday. I still may be without my seats for a month or so. :cry

AH Yes, MinnesotaWhite's car from the Corvette forum. I do like those, how muc is Al Knock charging you?

$675 for the leather, $150 to $250 for the labor depending on the condition of the foam. Al Knoch had a full page ad in the May issue of Corvette Magazine. Then I found out his shop is supposed to be one of the best Corvette Interior Shops. I'm not sure, I guess I will find out.

By the way, I like your GS Stripe, I thought about having one on mine, but now am leaning towards a two-tone stipe sort of like the '04 Z06 Comemorative Edition sports. Only I was thinking of the larger, inner stripe to be black and the accent stripes in red.

Still thinking about that one.
