Want (not need) to replace coil wire (42K miles). The coil end is corroded somewhat but engine runs well just the same. Anyway, how easy is it to replace the wire without removing the water pump? The fit looks tight. If this is a PITA I just might clean up the coil wire and pop it back on the coil with some dielectric grease.

Like...........help someone. I messed up my wrist replacing the coil and I dare not remove that coil wire if it means having to remove the water pump to slip it into place on the Opti. I won't be very good using only my left hand.

It can be replaced without removing the water pump!!You need a pair of spark plug wire pliers,it will make it allot easier!:thumb

Thanks Junkie. Just what I needed to hear.:beer

Just remove your intake coupling. It'll make accessing the coil wire much easier.

Thank you for the reply. I'll certainly try that.

Sounds like it's time to replace ALL the ignition wires. They're good for 60,000 miles, but your actual service life conditions will vary.

Open your hood, pull the hood lamp fuse, then start your engine at night or in a darkened section of your garage and look for telltale arcing and electrical creepy crawlies along the wires.

You can also use a spray bottle on the "MIST" setting to spook any ignition wire gremlins and bugaboos out of hiding with the engine running. :reddevil

Thanks onedef92,

I've got a few days off and will check those puppies. The spray mist- yes I've used that technique before. Works well.
