Tonight was the first time that l had to use my rear defroster and l'm not sure it was working. When l picked up my car from the dealer it was waiting for me outside with a fine mist all over the car. l put on my rear defogger and it didn't seem to do anything.
l let it run for 20 minutes and l saw nothing.

What can l do to check it out???????

Thanks

Alan

I would first start by checking the power at the grids, make sure the plugs are connected to them.

Your right l should first check to see if l feel any heat from the grid.
Then, l'll check the fuse, and to see if there are any broken grids.
Is this a big deal, if l have to have a dealership look into it??

You probably won't feel any heat but you can get a cheap test light and check them that way. I don't know how much a dealer would charge you but I'm sure it will be a min charge. maybe an hour labor just to check it. Are the wires plugged in at the rear window (hatch)?

Turn off the A/C and heater, drive a while (or park with a significant other) to steam up the windows. Then try the defogger. If it doesn't defog, check the fuse. If the fuse is OK, monitor voltage at the connections at the window elevators with a test light or voltmeter.
My defogger doesn't do much for mist on the outside but is really effective for interior fog and exterior frost.
Good luck
