I hope someone can answer a question I have had for a while. My 96 LT1 started running hotter than normal. When I searched the web, I saw conflicting information on the cooling fans. Mine don't come on until 230 degrees. I saw some comments that said the fans are two speed - coming on at a slower speed at around 190 and at a high speed at 230. Mine come on when the AC is turned on, but with the AC off, only come on at 230. Should they be coming on before 230?

Low fans are programmed to come on at 228° and high fans at 238°. With the right software (and, I'm not a tuner) you can reprogram your fans to turn on and off at points you choose.

Or, as you have suggested, you can have the low fans come on whenever you want by simply turning on your A/C. :D

95 /96 is different

There are 3 relays and two modes of operation when the fans run.

Both fans run at slow speed when the PCM grounds pin A11 Dark Green wire which energizes Relay #1.

Both fans run at high speed when the PCM grounds pin A11 Dark Green wire and pin A10 Dark Blue wire. (All 3 relays are energized).
