My corvette 1972 is born with a 360 Nm engine....can that be right?
I thought that all 1972 models was with downloaded engines....
I hope someone can give me the answer..

I believe the base engine in the '72 vette was 350ci, with something like 200 or 220hp....the hp (the 350 ci was standard) is just a guess on my part though....only because I know the '72 LT-1 option (High output engine) was only rated at 255hp.

A 1972 with original 360 nm engine..?

Thankyou for the answer.
I cant find any 1972 vette with 360 nm.....only 1971 models....and that is 360nm and 270 hp..
So...perhaps my vette is 1971 even though my VIN says its a 1972.??

The standard engine for the '71 was 350ci, 270hp.
The LS5 option was 454ci, 365hp,
and the LT-1 option was 350ci, 330hp.

Could it be a reference to the torque output?
My 72 came originally with the 200hp-360ft/lb base engine.

I moved this to the C3 forum. I think you'll get more exposure there rather than in Care & Detailing.:)

I guess that its the horsepower thats rated then..??...

The "360" number is the maximum amount of torque that the engine can produce, and is expressed in foot pounds (ft./lb) instead of the newton meter (nm) system that the rest of the world uses.

Your VIN plate in the windshield frame should have a 'K' as the fifth digit.

360 Newton-Meters is 255 ft-lbs., and the base engine (and the L-82) didn't get that sick until 1975.

1972 with 360 NM engine.?

Hi Mikey and John..
Thanks for your answers...it's not in NM...as we do it in europe....
Well then I understand.

Thanks for your help

Henrik
