anyone know anything about this anti theft system in the 82 vette, the first day i looked at the car when i opened the door it went off, and i never heard from it again, today i was playing under the dash and gave the fuses in the black all a little push in and low and behold the alarm works again, all i want to do is disable the thing, 90% of the time the roof is off and i never even carry the key for the door locks (which dont work anyway)

part 2.. i have every book published on this car except the original owners manual , anyone have a copy of the layout of the fuse panel and what is what, none of the books have a diagram of that in them

thanks

Do you have the assembly instruction manual? The AIMs usually have an illustration of the fuse panel.

:)

im pretty sure the factory repair manual has one, i even think my chilton repair manual has one as well. if not do a search ive seen them posted here before.

dont have that one and always thought chiltons books stunk, most books have nothing much at all or just a couple pages about the 82..the red headed stepchild of all corvettes

Bill, the Shop Manual has it in it. (LINK)

I'll go and see if i can find one online in the meantime..

:w

figures the one book most people told me not to bother with cause it was a bit useless is gonna cost me another 50 bucks..... does it have anythingin it about the alarm system that you know of?

Yep, has the entire outlay.. Actually, it's one of the very few books i have technical. Helped me a few times with trying to figure out what issues are there. Geared towards a repair shop, i find it usefull in some troubleshooting (noticed i said some ;LOL)

If you like i can scan the section about the alarm in (and the fuse block diagram) tonight and send it to you.

BUt i know there has got to be a pic of the fuse block somewhere..

It's something I had to diagram myself a few years ago, since it was missing from my documentation too. Pull the D fuse, and the alarm won't go off.

If it's like the '81 the horn relay controls both horn and alarm. Check to see if your horn still works after pulling the fuse.

Tom

They told you not to bother with the GM shop manual?! You've been listening to the wrong people.

:)

somhow somwhere i read tha while it is a good book to have it was geared of course more towards an actual dealership/garage, the stack of books i have already have covered more than enough of the things i have encountered so far but as far as the electrical system goes they stink (great wiring diagrams if you work for nasa) but i am gonna add it to my library ..... its also a little harder to find it seems, the ones i have popped right up when searching, that one i have actually had to search for a bit harder

Bill, You got mail.. :)

@Pete
If you want the page out of the Vette SM, send me a PM, i'll send it to you. But yours is right on the money, of course.. :D

outstanding..........:D

but im gonna climb under my dash and take a picture of my fuse block so you can see whats goin on under there.... a few things they pics just done seem to show;shrug

I believe the shop manual doesnt have a complete wiring diagram. i purchased a laminated wiring diagram that seemed alot more complete then the shop manuals diagram. i got it through ecklers its about 11"x16". its not the easiest thing to read and figure out but its helped me a bunch.
