its only been about 109 here in vegas but thats a little too hot for me for driving with the top down. so i turned on the ac and it blows ice cold, but it smells kinda funky. i though if i kept it on long enough it would go away. but it didnt. dont know if its been recharged and i keep it on recirculate. any ideas?

I hope something didn't crawl up inside the blower box and die.

If you haven't already tried it, run it with fresh air instead of recirculating it. This worked for me. The fresh air blows out the stale air.

Could be that the evap drain is blocked and water lays in the coil pan and grows mildew. You won't notice this on short drives as much cause the water may take a while to build. Look and see if the drain is discharging water when you stop the car after running it on a hor day with the air on. It should be a significant run off and not just a drop or two every few seconds. If that's what it does it's clogged.
