A CORVETTE NIGHTMARE

:ughWhile driving to the store this morning I came across this SAD sight. After returning home from the store, I grabbed my camera and went back to the scene to take a couple of pictures. Thought I'd share.

OMG! :eek Me thinks I need to go get those wheels locks I've been thinking about. Anyone got any suggestions on which type of locks work well these days. I haven't bought any wheel locks in 30 years.

Man.......I hope somebody didn't go to all the trouble to steal stock wheels! I'd like to know if he had aftermarket ones on there, and which ones. Boy......that hurts just to look at the pictures......and it looks like the lug nuts are still laying on the ground. Some C6 owner must be PI$$ED!

Bet they are on e-bay by now, that s@cks! I would have thought that these wheels are to much vehicle specific to be of great interest to the average road slime that does this kind of thing.

When I upgraded my wheels from the stock '04 wheels to the C5 Z06 chrome wheels, the package contained chrome wheel locks (one for each wheel) I must admit that prior to switching wheels, I didn't have wheel locks. A low life thief in the night is the worst!!!
When I first saw this tragic scene this morning, I was wondering what kind of aftermarket wheels did he have on there.

There are a number of tools to remove wheel locks and it only takes minutes, if that. I doubt that sad sight is the result of a specific theft for the stock wheels and tires but more of a joy ride theft and the scum figured lets take the wheels for sale later while were at it.

You might be right about the time taken to remove locks, but it seems like I need to do something to slow them down.

They did not use the proper jack puds .I'd never use concrete blocks.People would think I was from Pearland or something .

Not only does the poor guy have to get new wheels, he also has to have that thing towed which i assume is not easy without wheels. Petty theft... its ad to look at those pics.

We've all got 10 gallon hats too! I hate to say it now, but my Vette has never had proper jack puds used by me, unless you consider a short piece of 2 x 4 a proper jack pud. ;help

I hope they didn't damage the floor pans because it looks like they may have used the blocks as a see-saw lever and just rocked it once they had the back wheels off.

When I had my 65' there was a guy who used to break in by removing the drivers window but he would leave it neatly on the top. Heck, one windy night he even put it in the car. He would just swipe loose change.

My idiot mech broke my locks off when he did a tire change a few months ago .... to lazy to look for the key .... I gotta' get those replaced. I don't worry much because the car is garaged but if I go on a trip?
