A few things....

Hey folks the big day has arrived and I picked up my new(to me) LT4, there are some things I have learned and somethings I have a question about during this 1300 mile trip:

Things I Have learned:

1. The roads In Michigan, Wisconsin, and minnesota SUCK!ad Oh yeah the rains I just drove through were that great either!
2. Cant think of ANYTHING thats better than rocking a 6speed vette!

3. Seems to me as though Semi trucks cannot see a black vette, when changing lanes

Things I could use some help with.

1. At what type of rpm should I shifting during in town and on freeway??
2. whats the best thing to use to detail the a black interior
3. when I should I use the different FX3 selcect ride choices??
4. do they make a smaller antenna??
5. does sylvania make silverstars for 96 vettes??

If you do not like having the antenna come up while you are listening to the radio of some of your CDs you can bypass it to stop it from coming up. You can find the info here. The relay that you are looking for is in the foam holder for the jack. The wire that you need to cut is going to be dark green. Make sure you cut the right one. There are two dard green wires coming from one connection, you need to cut the one going to the antenna. Put a switch on it to make the antenna turn on and off and you will be in business.

Hey, it's a Corvette, and LT4's were born to run. Shift at whatever speed makes you feel good. Disconnect the CAGS to make life easier at lower speeds.

Armor All on the dash and plastic and a good leather cleaner.

What's the antenna problem, unless yours isn't working?

If I'm not mistaken, our vettes use a standard size headlight unit, so I would think there's a Silverstar that fits.

I have been keeping the rpm's @ approx 1.5-2.2k around town is that to low or????

Please explain the ride control options on the 1996 and when would be the best time to use them....

Sound like you need the manual or at least read it. RPMs in that range are too low to experience a Corvette. That's fine for just cuising down the road, but don't afraid to wind 'er up between shifts. The red line is up at 6300 and it'll go there with ease. I don't have the ride control - maybe some others will reply, but basically it has settings for mild to agressive driving. Chose what's comfortable for how you drive.

Around Town

1,3,5 works for me around town cruising. Everything else is up to your imagination.

Actually I think one of the beautys of the LT4 is not only its ability to wind easily to 6300, but its ability to cruise at low RPM's and deliver incredible economy like 30mpg.

My personal opinion is that to just cruise at 2000rpm around town in 4th or 5th gear is just putting unnecessary wear on the engine and wasting gas......

That is the beauty of the LT4.....purs gently at 1000-1500 rpm and roars like a lion at 6300...

Enjoy your new car......use it however you like and you will find the LT4 will respond accordingly

Headlights and RPM's

I just bought the upgrade headlight kit from http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/hella.htm for my 96CE and what a difference it makes. The stock setup is not the greatest for back roads. Take a look at the H4 200mm headlamp system, I only paid $90 for the whole kit including bulbs and new lens. It was worth in my opinion. Click on headlamps on the main page, then click on the 200mm lens Hi/Lo beam kit. When you start getting confused at all the different choices of bulbs, LIKE I DID ha.... Just find the menu at the top of the page that says Useful info and Links and click on it.
Next click on Lighting and horns, that will open up a sub menu, finally click on Bulb Help. Read the bulb help page over and make a choice on what kind of bulb you want.
Driving the LT4 is a pleasure at any RPM but I think the fun begins at 3000 RPM.
Have fun driving and stay safe in the rain; hopefully you still don't have the Goodyear GSC's
My LT4 just broke 105,000 miles today!!!
