Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

A good Corvette parts supplier

It depends on how much you care to shop around and what specifically you need. I always ask, whats the best price I can get for quality?
I like certain products like Vette Brake products for suspension parts, and I personally had a great experience with The Last Detail for my weather-stripping. They were by far the cheapest and it comes from the same manufacturer as everyone else. I haven't done any interior work yet, but I probably will likely use Wally Knoch or Last Detail. Engine parts... Summit Racing or Ebay. Emergency or anything under $10, Autozone down the street. :-)
I personally give everyone one chance to screw something up, but like most of us here, very price conscience due to budget issues.

Buy most of my parts from Corvette Central, haven't disappointed me yet. Also have been buying from Penn-Ohio, who uses Corvette America's catalog and then gives a 15% discount. Don't know how they do it, but it helps the invoice total.

Bad experiences with Ecklers (two times), Excellent service with Midamerica, Jegg's & Summit

I am restoring 82 coupe.Bought it all from Willcox@bellsouth.net
Parts are GM or Corvette Central at wholesale prices.Found them through ebay.I deal with Ernie.1-800-588-3883

Anyone mention Zip's?

I only ordered from them once but the service was top notch and the delivery was also very fast. I'm in Canada and the order showed up in 2 or 3 days, can't remember now.

Prices are also on par with everyone else.

Most of the time I use The Last Detail or Mid America. 2 good vendors. Ecklers is very expensive.

Update on Corvette Central

Just wanted to update my previous post...

I ordered a Steering Wheel for my 81 from Corvette Central 9/17/03. I got all of my order except for the steering wheel. I called and they said it was on backorder till November 1st. Well, no such luck. Called about the 7th and they said it was still supposed to be in on the 1st. Anyway, I called today, and the new date is March of '04!!! WHAT?!?! They say it's a problem with the manufacturer.

Here's the thing. I think that a good business should have it's ducks in a row, so to speak. I wouldn't be as upset if they contacted me and let me know. I should not have to keep calling them to find out this information. Any other online store will tell you when things are in stock/backordered/etc. They also usually send you shipping confirmation and such. Unfortunately Corvette Central does not do any of these things. You kinda have to just guess.

I don't mean to bash them...as I said in my last post, they're prices were the best, the parts I recieved were perfect and all delivered in a timely matter. I just think they should be a bit better at those things I mentioned.

And, now I need to order another steering wheel...I can't wait that long.

I had the same problem there at CC wont use them anymore.Try ecklers they should have what you need. They have a core program for steering wheels and you can get them pretty quick it may cost you $10. more but you get it when you need it.

HI ALL ,you'd think i'd use eckler's all the time. but i like CC or wilcox.
it isn't cost -effective for me to drive 50 miles then pay sales tax too. for me it's usually cheaper to ship in from out -of -state.

1/2 cents

I'm with Sly, I've used ZIP several times, very satisfied. Had some trouble with Eckler's on front end parts.

i've used all of them, not located near any of them. CC is good, eckelers is OK, MA OK, a lot of the generic parts I search the internet for and find. Some parts are still carried at local parts houses. Like most folks I like CC for the price. When you get into detail, I've found you may have to use three or more suppliers.

I use Zip Products for almost everything, they been great so far. I order online with them and they communicate very well, emailing me with detailed messages as to what's in stock, and what's not. If they do not have something in stock they tell you how long it will be, and if for any reason it is to be delayed further they do follow up emails with updates on delivery time. They are very friendly, and they products are top notch, and very competitively priced. My only nit with them is that there online catalog does not have pictures of every item listed, I would have to give an A+ to Eckler's in that category. I have never ordered anything from Eckler's though because I have heard to many horror stories from others about them, such as customer info with credit card numbers staying up on the screen after placing an online order, and being visible to the next customer placing an online order. Twice I tried to order a catalog from and both times they were never sent. I've even emailed them several times with questions on compatibility of certain items with my car, explaining to them that I wanted to be sure the part would fit before I ordered it, to avoid having to return and wait for the correct one, and having to pay for return shipping, and Once again they never returned any of my emails.

unlike many of you, i use ecklers and i have yet to have trouble with getting my parts. and for the record, i have made 15+ purchases incase you might think it was a one time order.

Ecklers is cool, I've found I have to use a lot of folks to get all I need. I haven't found a single source. Bottom line I use them all, and I get what I want.

I don't know about who is best, but I tried to get a question answered about an Eckler's product with no reply. Before you order, try to get an answer from their technical assistance number. Six months ago I had a question about a fiberglas bonding agent I ordered from them. I called several times and left voicemail messages with both customer assistance and technical assistance and am still waiting. Not really, I got my answer from one of their competitios and now do business with them. I have receipts for over $6000. I spent on Corvette related items in 03. Bye-Bye Ecklers and hello to everyone who treats me right.
