When I accellerate hard or brake hard, both the ASR/ABS lights come on and the RED BRAKE lights come on.Brake fluid level is full. Not familiar with how to retrieve DTCS on this system, any help would be greatly appreciated! I also read something about a LAteral Accellerometer? where might this be located and could this be a factor in my problem?

Scott, the diagnostics for the ABS/ASR are quite lengthy in the GM manual, but you can try the CCM in-vehicle method to clear ABS/ASR codes:

1. ignition "off".
2. connect a jumper from DLC terminal "A" to terminal "G".
3. ignition "on".
4. press TRIP RESET button on the DIC (driver info center) repeatedly to display "9.0" in the trip monitor area of the instrument cluster.
5. press TRIP ODO twice to change the display to "9.7".
6. hold the ENG/MET button until "---" appears in the speedometer area of the cluster.
7. ignition "off".
8. remove junper from DLV.

If the light continues to flash after clearing the codes, then you will have to obtain a manual and begin the trouble shooting process.

Just to make sure, the fluid level in the reservoir has to be REALLY full. There is a fill line on the outside of the reservoir very close to the top, so you have to make sure you have brake fluid within 1/8" or so of the top.

I have had my ABS/ASR and Brake lights come on and simply adding a teaspoon's worth of brake fluid solved that. The fluid level sensor can be pretty touchy!!!

All due respect, it's just not true. All the resevoir really needs is enough so that air isn't sucked into the system at any time, like during a hard corner. You could fill the resevoir 1/4 full and that would be enough.

Thanks guys,I will top off fluid level and recheck operation, then if lights still come,I guess I'll have to hit the books.I have both of the factory GM service manuals for this car, that will help....I'll keep ya posted. Thanks again.
