ABS Self test

When the vehicle reaches 3 mph or more, actually when the ABS computer senses that all four wheel sensors have reached 3 mph there are a couple of clicks and a whirring noise. I never really noticed it untill one day I moved the car and had the drivers side rear hatch open with the storage divider out, then it scared the bejezus out of me till I relaized what it was.

The reason i ask is because i get a scrapping type noise that lasts for about 1 foot length, only doe's it on key start, never after like from a stop sign or red light, etc.:ugh the car has been checked out, brakes are good etc. The GM mechanic couldn't find anything wrong, or that could be the cause of that noise, which by the way he also heard.

My 90 makes a groaning noise at about 30 ft backing out of the garage. First time I heard it I thought I had a differential problem. :confused Does it every time.

My 91 sounds like a buzzing/humming kind of sound. It last maybe 3-5 seconds. It normally is when I'm backing out of the garage or driveway. Freaked me out the first time I heard it too until I found out what it was.

My 89 doesn't make any sounds at all. The ABS active display in the DIP briefly lights up, but no sounds.
Should I be concerned >
