I have a 90 vette. I get power to the compressor clutch, the problem is that there is not enough amps running through the wire. This would mean a short. The question I have is, is there a common location for this type of problem that accures some what regularly? And if some one can tell me where the dark blue hot wire coming from the clutch runs to? Power to the fuse compartment is good. Thanks for any and all input. Ray

Check from the switch to ensure you are getting the propere voltage to the Compressor, BUT the common thing to happen this time of year, is for the owner to take the vehicle out of storage and find compressor to be low on freon because it hasn't been run during the winter. (And I kow this from first hand experience).. You may have to have the system recharged. Then the sensors will do their job properly and the AC to work.....

LOL,
Thank you for the reply. When I jump the compressor from the battery it comes on and the AC will blow cold air. How can I get a wiring diagram on tha AC? Also how to explain that with switch on there is voltage but not enough amps?
Thank you Ray

inadequate amps

Low amperage could be due to a corroded contact, usually the ground. Check the mounting of the compressor for cleanliness. Then check the wires that bring the voltage to the compressor clutch for any corrosion (usually green and fuzzy). Clean them up and it may help. If you're reading 12+volts at the compressor clutch, you're likely OK on Freon but a connector/ground could be bad (per above). A Helms or factory service manual will give a good schematic and trouble-shooting procedure. I have one for my '95 but it's different for your year.
Hope this helps.
