I can't get the temp control to change on my heat/ac unit.I push it and it won't change. Can the dealer fix this? A friend of mine says his 92 is always stuck on auto year round/

You could have some problems with the ciricut board inside the control head. Do any of the other buttons work OK? Does the fan control work? Can you enter the diagnostic mode and display any codes?

The control head can be removed after removing the trim around the console and the trim around the radion and temp control panel. Remove the cable from the control head and using a eraser from a pencil, rub the contacts on the circuit board to clean them. If that doesn't work, you probably need a replacement control unit.

The fan control works fine but hte other controls rarely work. They will sometimes then not at all. Thanks

I took my control unit out this morning and took it apart and cleaned everything. They use small rubber strips with carbon pads as the actual switch element. You push on the button, the button presses the rubber with the carbon against lands on the circuit board. The carbon pad 'makes' the circuit between the lands and the switch function is actuated. If the rubber strips are mis-aligned (they are not held in place very well), you won't have any success with the switches.

I removed all of the plastic buttons, cleaned and lubricated them, cleaned the lands and the circuitboard edge connector. I re-assembled everything and it works much better. It still loses its mind sometimes though.
