Vacuum Check Valve

Well I replaced my vacuum check valve today with anticipation. While all of my vacuum components worked, they were not as snappy as I would have liked.

Everything seems to be working much stronger now. The headlights came up with the car turned off, the ait started cming through the vent as soon as I put it on that selection. A real improvement for a $12.50 part. And I now longer have the vacuum leak sound from the top of the engine when I turn it off.

Is that the check valve ontop the engine?

That is the one. Vacuum from the carb, to the filter and then to the check valve.

I can't wait to get back on mine. I was working in the garage this weekend, and the vette was begging for attention! (January is coming soon.)

Yeah, very busy with that stuff. Although, I still check-in with CAC almost everyday. I need to stay in touch. I'm just taking a short break, then I'll be back in gear!

I know the feeling. I have the parts to finish the door panels, windows and carpets but I'm not going to make the mistake I made last year, start a large project in September/October and miss the best Atlanta driving weather.

Come November the car won't be driven for several months. In addition to the above, I want to change the water pump and timing gear, I'm thinking of the cam but I don't know yet, rod out the radiator and POR15 the frame pieces in the area.

I also may consider adding electric fan(s) either to run solo or as an auxillary for idle speed to cool the car and further help with the a/c. If I do this, I will need to find a manufacturer that makes the frames to make this a bolt up project. 69MyWay's dual Spal's looked great at Sharkfest but as I recall he had to manufacturer the frames and my manufacturing skills are not up to this yet.

Replacing the filter may make things even snappier - it's supposed to be replaced regularly, but nobody ever does.
