So, I finally got my new 5 port washer pump installed and I finished connecting the headlight washers to the washer hoses. I fired up the car, turned on the headlights, started the windshield wipers, then had my wife stand in front of the car so she could tell me if the headlight washers were workings. So, I pushed the button, only to see my wife get doused with jets of washer fluid. LOL!!! The pump works great, and the headlight washers shoot jets of fluid approximatly 12 feet from the car. . .none of which actually hit the headlights. :) This could be fun at intersections. . .I could squirt pedestrians, and other cars. . .

Anyone know how to adjust the washers? The porst look like they are ball joints in a socket. . .but I can't tell if they are aim-able.

If you used standard windshield washer nozzles, you can adjust them with a needle or safety pin. just stick it in the hole and move it gently. Make sure you don't mess the hole up with too big of a needle.

it's the origional washers. I will try to adjust them tonight. Thanks.

Hey Bolisk, I have a 69 that I believe has the headlight washer. Is it possible to give me a rundown as to what parts are needed or suppose to be there to make this operational? Was this an option or did all vettes come with it? Where the headllights are, I see a round plug that plugs to I don't know. Hoses that suppose to connect to the port that the water comes out. (where's it coming from? Washer on the firewall? ) Any pic would be great, if you can. Thanks, Tony

While both 69 and 70 (and maybe 68) had the headlight washers, they were implemented differently.

The 1970 Corvette used a 5 port washer pump, that was connected to the front side of the wiper motor (directly behind the coil and distributor). The center port was the source feed from the washer resevour, the two upper ports were for the wipers, and the two lower ports were for the headlights. The lower port tubes traveled allong the firewall to the driver side, and went forward along the driver side fender (along with the wireing harness for the headlights. This entire bundle passes through an opening between the fender and radiator. From there one of the lines passes along the edge of the hood opening to the other side of the car, while the other line stops shortly after that opening. Now, in 1970 there were uper and lower washer spouts for the headlights (check to see if 1969 had the same, there would be washer ports on the top and bottom, and if their missing two holes). In order to feed both ports, there is a "T" fitting (that evedently has a one way value (to prevent sifoning of the lines), that would then lead to both ports.

I'm farily postive that 1970 was the ONLY year for the five port pump. I believe a 3 port pump was used in 1969, along with a anti-drainback valvue that mounted to the upper right mounting bolt of the washer pump. I think one of the wiper lines fed the drainback valve, and that lines that came off the drain back valve fed the headlights. Unfortunatly, I'm have very little knowledge about the 1969 configuration. I can only tell you that I have seen the parts I mentioned.

To be 100 percent sure that you have it right, I would get a copy of the 1969 Assembly manual, and look up the washer pump / line assembly page. It should show you all the parts and show you where they go. You can also do a quick check on any parts website (zip is really easy to use) for "1969 washer"

here is the 1969 washer "add on valve" that I was talking about: http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/pro...alse&mscssid=8C07934CEA484130A5A75BBDB0E0C4EE

here is the correct 1969 washer pump: http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/pro...alse&mscssid=8C07934CEA484130A5A75BBDB0E0C4EE
(there is a cheaper 1968-73 black 3 port repro that is not correct for the car)

here is the correct 1969 headlight washer hose set: http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/pro...alse&mscssid=8C07934CEA484130A5A75BBDB0E0C4EE

here is the rest of the hose set (with AC): http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/pro...alse&mscssid=8C07934CEA484130A5A75BBDB0E0C4EE

here is the rest of the hose set (without AC): http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/pro...alse&mscssid=8C07934CEA484130A5A75BBDB0E0C4EE

Well, I tried the neadle solution. . .that's didn't work. Seems as though the nosels are stuck from years of grime and dirt. So, I will try the next best thing. I noticed that if I swap the sides that the ports are on (move left to right and right to left) the ports are correctly aimed. :)

If you remove the nozzles and soak them overnight in PB Blaster, it usually frees them up so you can move them with a pin. :)
