Hi all;
I'm looking at a 90 Vette for sale... asking price is $5200. It has the following:

1990 CHEVROLET CORVETTE, 135k mi, 6 speed manual trans.
red with red leather interior. new floor mats and mask. The A/C doesn't work, the tach doesn't work, one of the headlight motors doesn't function, body and paint look great, tires look good, runs strong, does not leak any fluids, and the back hatch button doesn't work.

What do you think? I attached a picture of it. Good price? It sure seems so to me and the little things that need fixing are just those things to help you bond to the car. I'm not a real fan of red on red but for the price.... could be worth it!!!

WOW! Sounds like a great price, pretty car, I'd jump on it :beer :w

So shooter.... is that a "no" vote or ??? I like TLC... I restore chevies for a hobby! ;) I'm just asking if the price is right considering its little faults.... and the miles....

For 5200 bucks ya cant go wrong....Its a whole car there!!! If the engine aint running to well drop a crate motor in it and have some fun!!! Write the check!!!!:lou

I see it has diff wheels. Do I also see later tailights ?

Am I incorrect in my knowledge... I thought it was 1990 that the taillights changed... was it 1991 instead? I particularly don't like the wheels myself... I'd prefer the originals or the chrome spokes but....

Doh! Your right! It does have the different taillights... Hmmm - that is interesting. The couple that is selling it I don't think know much about vettes and haven't had the car very long. I think the only thing that is stopping me (besides being broke) is that I really didn't want a red one (no offense I already have a red vehicle)... I wanted a white on white conv... of course, those appear to be costing an arm and a leg everywhere I find them!!!!

Dawn,

Appears that someone installed a 91-96 rear bumper on the car. Looks good. :upthumbs

I would be aware that maybe the bumper was replaced because of damage due to an accident. I am sure you will be checking that out.

As a previous owner of two red C4's, this much I can tell you: All Corvettes are red! All the others are just mistakes. :)

The price is grrrrrrreat! I would not hesitate to get involved with that baby.

Save The Wave! :w

I like the 89 and 90 wheels, each being one yr only. I do like the later tail lights better then the early ones. Either someone liked them also and changed them or there was damage on the rear somewhere along the line.
As far as price goes I paid $10,000 for my less than perfect 90 with 69,000 miles on it , and it is not a mistake. :D It is red with red.
:w

It appears as though the car has been repaired from an accident. Look at the body side moldings. The door and fender have the correct moldings and the quarter panel has the newer molding. Get a Carfax if you can.

Yea... I'm thinking even if I buy and and ultimately don't like it I can't imagine losing money on the deal, providing there isn't anything else wrong that they haven't told me. The car is 250 miles away otherwise I'd just hoppy right over there and see it. As it stands its mine but if I don't let them know when I'm coming with the mula then I'm sure they will sell it. They did drop the price from $6000 to $5200.... so I'm curious as to why the drop. It would seem worth the $6000 too. They "claim" to be having a lot of interest but.... I dunno. I'm still contemplating... I keep looking at the pictures they sent me over and over and over and over........

If you buy it and want to get rid of the wheels I have some nice blades from a 96, maybe we can do some horsetrading ;) The 89-90's are kinda hard to find.

I thought the tail lights were later also, unless you've stumbled onto a ZR1 :L If so you better snatch it up quick

Nevermind

Ok... I've requested the VIN number from them. I don't think it is a ZR-1 though because you can tell the rear bumper isn't original. From the pictures of the ZR-1's I found for 1990, the black bumper guard goes around the whole car... you can see on this one that it is missing in the back, definitely from a replacement. Also, it doesn't look like color perfectly matches either.... You SCARED me though!!!

I'll also run that carfax report.... I'm just waiting to hear back from them. Thanks everyone!!! If you have any more last minute thoughts please share!

I say go for it! The price is right and it only has a few problems from what you wrote, but its nothing serious!

Carfax is good!

Carfax report came back good - nothing out of the ordinary. Its not a ZR-1... :cry ... that would have been great if it was! It is even an AZ/CA car so there ya go!! The owners are being forth coming with all my requests so that is good too!
Think I may buy her!!!

BTW... so you guys are telling me these ARE original rims for this car?????
