1971 BB Coupe
I've been looking for 71-72 C3 coupe for a restoration project for a while now. I went and took a look at one last weekend and would be curious to get forum members input on the car.

The car is a 1971 Coupe, 454 LS-5 (non matching # motor) 4 speed manual. The interior is dark geen and in fair condition. It needs new carpets and there is some splitting at the end of the door panels. It has a very solid frame, only minor surface rusting. The engine runs although it needs a tune up. Paint is fair condition (looks good from 20').

As far as needed repairs goes, It needs new calipers and master cylinder and the A/C compressor and condenser are missing. I didn't see any other major mechanical problems.

We've tossed numbers back and forth for a few days and he's now holding firm at $9500. What do you guys think? Too much, good deal, about right?

if it is what you are looking for...go for it sky is the limit as what you can do with it!!!:D
 
Go for it !!!

I think the price is low for the potential of this car. This model has the 2 chrome bumpers and the value for those models keeps going up. And besides that. You have the 454 engine with a Rare 4 Speed !!!

Total production that year: 21,801 Total LS5 that year: 5,097 Total 4 speed Manual transmission that year: 2,387 for the M21 and 130 for the M22.

It's a rare find if you ask me

I say go for it !!! at this price it is an investment. It will be worth alot more in a few years even if you do nothing to it.
 
Ok Everyone, I went and picked it up today! After thinking about it for a while I'm pretty confident about what I paid for it. Even though the car doesnt have crap for brakes I couldn't help taking it for a ride up and down my driveway (its pretty long). All I had done before was drive it around a small dirt lot at the guys house I bought it from. Holy geez! That 454 has some wicked neck snapping torque... This is gonna get me in trouble...

Well best of luck with your new car and welcome to the corvette action center.

I dont know your story if you know about vettes or not,or if you just happened on a vette and purchased it.

The reason I mention this is that in the vette comunity a vette holds its value better when restored to a factory correct condition. I am not saying this is the road you should take in your restoration. i am just pointing out some facts you should be aware of.

Good luck and from a fellow big block owner nothing beats the feel of a big block planting you in your seat.

If your going the factory correct route I highley recomend joining the NCRS and checking out there web site.I built a 1966 to factory correct specs and had a great time doing it. and I am almost complete with a modified 1962 corvette build so I have done it both ways and both ways were a blast. enjoy the car
