I've got a couple questions for some Aerobody owners. If you could print this out and take 10 minutes to look at your car with a flashlight-- it'd be greatly appreciated and you'll earn credits toward Yuengling consumption. :) It would be great to hear from multiple owners because I have a general feeling that there is more than one correct answer:

1) What is the color of your Aerobody nose Corvette emblem? Mine was black and was painted body color-- but what is yours?? Is it also body color or is it the standard GM finish??

2) What color is the bracket that holds the Vette emblem in place behind the aero bumper?? Again, mine is body color.... but what is yours?

3) Inside the four upper nostrils of your aerobody nose-- Is that painted body color?

a) If it is painted body color inside there-- was it carefully and purposely painted body color or
b) Was it just overspray that caused it to be that way?

4) The aerobody nose was fitted with some "filler" panels. These are adjacent to the radiator housing and directly above the rods that entend outward towards the very front of the nose for support. The filler panels that I speak of can be seen by looking into the front of the car and towards the radiator and pusher fan. There is one on the left side and one on the right side. They are there to channel the air more directly into the radiator.

a) Body color or not?

While I've got this thing apart I'd like to do it the "most correct" way! Any help that you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Mine is Chrome with the Black Callaway inserts

2) What color is the bracket that holds the Vette emblem in place behind the aero bumper?? Again, mine is body color.... but what is yours?

Mine is Black

3) Inside the four upper nostrils of your aerobody nose-- Is that painted body color?

Yes they are white (body color)

Mine are smooth and carefully painted (Final Finish did it for Callaway)

Mine are Black.....they were bare metal when the Aerobody was delivered to the paint shop

Have Fun,

It's going to depend on where the Aerobody was installed I think. Here is how mine was done by The Final Finish in 2000 -

1) What is the color of your Aerobody nose Corvette emblem? Mine was black and was painted body color-- but what is yours?? Is it also body color or is it the standard GM finish??

Black

2) What color is the bracket that holds the Vette emblem in place behind the aero bumper?? Again, mine is body color.... but what is yours?

Black

3) Inside the four upper nostrils of your aerobody nose-- Is that painted body color?

Black (That's ALL the way inside where it's rough fiberglass and NOT the smooth inlets which are body color)

a) If it is painted body color inside there-- was it carefully and purposely painted body color or

n/a

b) Was it just overspray that caused it to be that way?

It's black on purpose so it doesn't show up.

4) The aerobody nose was fitted with some "filler" panels. These are adjacent to the radiator housing and directly above the rods that entend outward towards the very front of the nose for support. The filler panels that I speak of can be seen by looking into the front of the car and towards the radiator and pusher fan. There is one on the left side and one on the right side. a) Body color or not?

If I understand correctly the pieces you are referring to are black.
Or in your case, everything is body color.:beer

Did you say you have the whole nose off the car? :eek

Yeap, the car is pretty fugly looking with the whole front end off of the car! But, the intercoolers are at max efficiency because there is no heat trapped around them anymore ;)

Thanks for the heads up everyone! The general consensus is that the nose emblems are either chrome or black and everything that is not "waxable" is a satin black finish.

CC, can you still check out yours? I know that yours hasn't been refinished in any way and was original so.... I'm curious! Thanks again!

I have been in & out of the garage this afternoon, will take some notes & advise.

- Agree w/ Kevin, it did matter where it was done, as each installer had their own methods to a minor extent...
When I talked with Dave (at Final Finish) he recalled the Ruby SNAT when he did it :)

B2K is factory black finish like my regular 89 Vette emblem.
SNAT is 40th Anniv. Chrome.

2) What color is the bracket that holds the Vette emblem in place behind the aero bumper?? Again, mine is body color.... but what is yours?
Black. It does have a slight charcoal look to it but is closer to black. (same on both cars)

3) Inside the four upper nostrils of your aerobody nose-- Is that painted body color?
B2K - body color
SNAT - flat black

a) If it is painted body color inside there-- was it carefully and purposely painted body color or
b) Was it just overspray that caused it to be that way?
B2K - carefully and nicely done, nice & smooth as the rest of the car.
no overspray on either car.

4) The aerobody nose was fitted with some "filler" panels. These are adjacent to the radiator housing and directly above the rods that entend outward towards the very front of the nose for support. both cars are close to the same - black, not a shiny black, maybe a semi gloss would be a better description

Hope this helps - Pics to follow :m

Eric,

Though my car is at Callaway at the moment, I do have some pictures I can share to answer some of your questions from my cars perspective.

See you at Bloomington!
