What the heck

I have a matching nos 78 , well it was stock til i rebuilt the original L82,
and bumped the HP up some what. Thing is i still have all the original parts
and its the same with the stereo. Mine came with the built in CB radio,as stock, but it has a six stacker cd player under the dash and to even see it you have to pull it down. [Its mounted on a spring loaded hinged bracket,
and you cant see it at all. My point is that if your worried about matching nos simply keep all the bits, and let the next owner worry about it.
PS, mine is so loud to hear it over the exhaust note ,you probably blow the doors off.!!!
Cheers, Ernie. :beer

My original am/fm radio works, but poorly. At highway speed with the top down, it's hardly worth turning the thing on. In fact, most of the time I listen to my ipod.
That said, i'm thinking of installing a new radio, but i plan to get a new bezel so it looks like it was factory installed, and i'm going to save the original radio and bezel. Although, as i told my son, that car will be in my driveway on the day i die, unless it's the cause of my demise.

personally, I like the look of the orginal radio, however mine doesn't work. I thought about sending it off to be rebuilt with elctronic parts but the cost was too expensive. So I'm stuck with my delimma.

You might check the speakers before you give up on the radio. I was about to send my radio off for repair, but i asked the tech to check the speakers, and it turned out that both of them were bad.

I wanted to keep the car original, so i opted to repair the speakers and keep the original radio. Can't say i'm happy with that decision, but then, 20/20 hindsight is better than my foresight.
