So last night I was heading down a country road I travel all the time at about 75 mph in my '84. The thing is already bouncing me to death over every bump in the road. Now for some reason which I will never understand, I completely forgot about the really rough railroad tracks in front of me. I was zoned out, or god knows what - they just didn't register in my brain. So I hit them at 75-80. In most cars I think you would just fly over them, but of course not in a C4. It felt like someone threw a grenade under my car, and my front left headlight shroud actually cracked from the vibration so hard that the top half seperated from the screws that hold it and flew off over my car. Believe me I was kicking my ass for this one. It must have already been cracked, but still.... scared the crap out of me! :)

I actually find the stiff suspension to be enjoyable at times. It's like getting constant feedback on road conditions. It can also make you more aware as a driver for rough roads and stuff like that.

But those bangs can be pretty disheartening. :( You just hope that something didn't break. At least the suspension didn't get damaged in any way. I've had a rear sway bar bushing blown out on the Dan Ryan.

84 is the stiffest riding Vette ever esp. with Z51 pkg. I enjoy the stiffness as it really keeps you in tune with everything.

I find the ride of mine very enjoyable. It is like riding a go cart at times, you can feel the road so good. However I know what you mean. I slow down at all railroad crossings. The people behind me get ****ed. Well I hope you get everything fixed.

Its like a mini-missle.......... weaving and winding......... stop, go...... uh, hard corner, accelerate........... YUMMY!

I love my 84. When I am in it I feel like me and the car are one and I totally drive like I shouldn't. HOWEVER, the rough riding does get on my nerves sometimes but no matter. That is what the 68 Convertible Camaro is for..... granny driving. ;)

I just put my FX3 on "Touring" mode and it glides almost like a Cadillac. :D

Here, Here.....

Vette/Caddy Those two don't really belong in the same sentence, except for "Name 2 cars made by GM";LOL

I like the stiffness of the Z51, I is exactly what the car is about.

Ok, so you WON'T be zoning out anymore, correct!?!!! You surfed the rip-rap, my man! I did this once while zooming around a curve and my hair went Bride of Frankenstein!!!! Cause by the time I got myself back over in my lane, a big ole dump trunk came screamin over the hill and around that same corner going the other way, hit that same rip-rap and flung trash and who knows what else hither and yon! I would've been recycling material. It's just too darn bad you lost a piece of yer baby in the process. Thank the big G, you didn't wang the oil pan or something.

Dear Dawn,

I have stiff suspension too (new Bilstein shocks on all four wheels) and I understand why it is made that way. Where I get scared is the probability of other cars not being able to slow down as fast as I can, and getting a hit from the behind head on to my fuel tank... God forbid the car can become a fireball really fast... And the stiff suspension also makes everything in the car to vibrate unless the road conditions are excellent.

:) :) :)

This is all true.... heck there is danger on the roads from that even if you are doing the speed limit!

Really? You would not be saying that if you test drove the CTS-V I did the other day

FX GS - I stand corrected, but at $51g US, c'mon, this is not really a Caddy more of a shot at Mercedes, Lexus and the rest of the high end lux performance market.

I don't see it pulling a full G on the skidpad like the Vette, and they say it'l do 0-60 in 5.0sec

Yeah right, maybe with one gallon of gas no spare and my 60lb kid driving, oh and maybe DR's, but at 3800+ lbs not including driver,Hmmmmm

Just my .02 worth
